Newbie - well kinda

So after owning a si z4 coupe in 2014, I thought I'd start a new account for my new car after a few years away from BMW ownership.

I bought Gwest's M coupe back in March, https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=119365&hilit=amarone After a few frustrating months of having a new car I couldn't drive, I'm looking forward to getting stuck into M ownership.

The car has BC Racing coilovers so it's been interesting playing with the damping, the car responds well to small changes though I must admit, the temptation to constantly tweak and experiment is strong, but I think I've settled on a decent setup. I've had the ride height set to standard, and tweaked the front toe to neutral with about a degree of negative camber which has made the front end sharp without it being busy following ruts. A ZHP gearknob and Redline MTL fluid has transformed the gear change.

Immediate plans are to get the wheels refurbished in shadow chrome, fit Goodyear asymmetric 5 tyres to the front, and fit a BCS powervalve exhaust. That should keep me entertained for the year before getting the rod bearings done over winter, caliper refurb, and a front end respray and detail for 2021.

Looking forward to actually attending some meets, something I never managed in my last zed.

Thanks for reading.

Rob

Congratulations on finding your MC in a stunning colour combination.

I bought my 1st 3.0Si in 2014 too, and my MC last December so similar history to you.

And it's great that you are now using it - enjoy. :driving:

Lovely car , just be aware the BCS exhaust boxes are not switched or valved , they are however top drawer in terms of quality , fit & tone so doubt you will be disappointed .
Welcome back

Thanks everyone.

I've watched the video of your old car about 50 times haha it sounds insane. It reads like they're a good compromise so just took the punt. Less weight and better looks are a bonus as mine are looking tired.

I'm hoping to do the north coast 500 and a few trips to Europe in the next year or two so hoping it doesn't drone too badly at cruising speeds... from what I've read bcs are the better of most the after market options in that regard.

I did around 6k in 9 months with the grey ZMR the BCS boxes went on , the most ive covered in any Z ive owned , lots of weekends away , a 5 day Scotland trip & a jaunt over the channel , drone would not have been acceptable , with most aftermarket boxes there is a point 2k/2500k where you learn to drop a gear or accelerate through but i lived with the BCS boxes no problem at all & bought another set for the imola ZMR i had afterwards , they are lightweight & extremely well made , look fantastic sound epic  what's not to like :)
