Newbie to detailing

Hi guys and gals. I decided to throw a few quid at some detailing stuff, no doubt I've got it arse for elbow even after reading the guides etc.....
I first washed the car using the 2 bucket method and Zymol auto wash. I then clay barred the car using Bilt Hamber Autoclay soft. This was followed by Poorboy's Blackhole using a DAS 6 PRO. I buffed this with a microfibre cloth and then added a coat of Sonus Enhance and buffed that too. (My back and arms are bloody aching.) :)
Tomorrow I'm adding a coat of Sonus final finish, using the appropriate pad, this will be followed by a final coat of AutoPro PTFE Car Wax Plus.
Have I gone about it in the right way and is there anything else I can add to further enhance the Zed? It looks great already, the guy who had it before me must have taken care of it, as the clay barring took off very little dirt.
Any advice would be great thanks.

You're definately going the right way about it! We need to see pics! It all depends how far you want to take it. The limits really are your own OCD levels. Ranging from using a small detailing brush to get rid of dust and debris in all the tiny gaps such as around the edges of the badges etc, to going the whole machine polishing route. You could even take the wheels off one at a time, using a product like Iron-X to remove every tiny little microscopic particle of crud, then polishing and sealing the wheels, followed by a serious deep clean of the inner arches etc.
When I finally end up purchasing my Z4C I'm planning on carrying out my own full detail with paint correction to remove any swirls completely.

Like I said, the limits are really how patient and anal you can be! Happy cleaning and post some pics!!

I admire your effort... I bought all the stuff to do this, then had a PRO do the work as I figured I'd likely end up in hospital after doing in my back or whatever lol. As has been said, lets see your results!

Stuart do both, Tardis will only remove the tar spots, not all the other contamination....I would clay first, wash it, tardis, wash it again, and then polish and wax.....

Hi folks, thanks for the comments. I didn't take the wheels off, but I did get a fine soft brush to clean the edges of badges etc. as was suggested. There were a few dinks, that the previous owner had tried to repair and I had to leave them, as they and a few other scratches were beyond my limited abilities.
Anyroad she cleaned up nicely for a lady of her advanced years and I'm very pleased with how she looks. :)

I'll post some pics in the gallery just shortly.

I do it it the other way round. Wash the car first, tardis (valet Pro tar and glue remover in my case), rinse, clay, wash again and so on. There's no point claying a car before you've removed the tar spots because it quickly trashes the clay bar.

looking forward to some pics, both before and after, i wish i had the enthisiasm to do this

I was mistaken, Iron-X is what I was thinking. I've been looking at a couple of threads on the detailing forum and a few pro's are now using this instead of, or before, a clay bar.
