Hi, Newbie here! Always found forums useful but never joined one. Had my 2012 28i a year now and just failed its MOT due to cracks in RFT's, so switching to non-RFT's. I guess that's my first official 'mod'. :D I would like some advice on changing the exhaust. Just for looks and nice note, as not too bothered about increasing bhp at this stage. Can I just upgrade the silencer and if so any ideas on what to go for please? 8)

Welcome to the forum. Mine is still stock OEM bits, after all these years, so can't help with any mods. :D

Your going to be in trouble, if you don't dig some pics out quick too.

Hi, cracked tyres & not cracked wheels? i think that’s a first!
Did you know you can get a bit more growl by removing the vacuum pipe that fixes to the r/h tailpipe? The butterfly valve then remains open & allows the exhaust gasses to bypass the baffles in the rear silencer

Well, I don’t think I have cracked wheels!!! But yeah I appreciate crack tyres is a weird description to write on the MOT report.

As for the exhaust, I was hoping to improve the appearance of the tips as well! :?

Hi and welcome. Autosol is very good, but so is Brasso!

The end pipes are push-on apparently (as never tried to get them off). They will be a lot easier to clean than on the car. :)

I used fine wet&dry (wet) paper to start, then finished with solvol autosol.
