newbie--sitting on the fence

gaza,
its not that im not enjoying the z, maybe i just expected more..ive had a few tvr's and a 911, and just not getting much grin factor at the minute. but on the other hand, at least i know it will start each morning !!!

Given your history I'm surprised you prefer the MX5 (great car really does do everything it sets out to) - a new one was an option when I bought Z4 (flawed but fantastic - BMW make amazing engines and my good it looks good... maybe that's the problem?).

If you don't mind... which 911? Am a big fan! Have a friend trying to sell me a 996 C4S on an almost weekly basis. Did you try a Boxster? I tried a few of the early ones before buying the first Zed I looked at!

Hi mate

Did you buy this off a guy on autotrader ?

I think i enquired about your car but was put off by the guys response and also how easy he was willing to drop the price of the car when i asked how much he would be willing to take. However he may have really needed to get rid of the car due to circumstances.

I think if i can remember Its an SE with very little options which maybe why you got it for 15k still very good price for an awesome looking car !

gaza,
have to totally agree with you about the griffith, probably my favourite car i have ever owned( also had a chimaera and tamora).non of my tvr's ever let me down, i think due to the fact they were my daily drives..yet the 911 seemed intent on bankrupting me.. i was actually looking for a T350 when i saw the z4 advertised

adam81,
i did buy off autotrader, the car was in leicester, and the fact he was only a couple of miles up the road was why i went to view. turned out he worked with some of my friends, so i got the run down on both him and the car.. it does lack a few options, cruise would be nice and the heated seats would be handy at the minute.. inside and out, the car does look brand new, so i do think i got alot of car for not much money.

TVR's have got a certain something maybe after coming from that sort of car you would have prefered a Z4M but the car you have found sounds nice and if the price is rock bottom you may be able to sell the car come spring time for what you paid

The 911 i take it had no tramlining probs as a mate has driven a new Porsche and complained of bad tramlining but he is not used to driving cars with wide low profile tyres.

Thought the fastest Saab was the V6 which did 0-60 in 6.6secs? I would have thought the 3.0SI Zed would whip its ass? Zed has higher top speed too.

Never took to the Z4 when they first came out and never really had and interest until I was getting rid of the M3 and had no idea what to go for next. Was then shown the Z4M brochure and a 3.0L Coupe sat outside, had a good look at the angles and was amazed at how good the coupes were and wondered what was I thinking of for those last few years. Ordered the Z4MC there and then and when it came to swapping the M3 and picking up the new Z4 I had a tear in my eye handing over the M3 but boy did I have a grin on my face when handed the keys to the Z. How good the Z4MC looked in the flesh compared to the brochure was amazing and ever since over the last 2.5 years I have never regreted my decision and love it more and more each time I sit in the drivers seat.

OK, it is analogy time here. the Z for me is a bit like women and relationships.

At first i fancied it and now i love it.

so much so i'd go and happily sit in a traffic jam in it (read shopping with women maybe for that bit)
