newbie signing in!

hi, im gareth, a self employed signwriter from south wales. looking to buy a z4 in the coming months and having a poke around the forum for advice and issues to watch out for when buying. currently driving an audi a3, but with the kids getting older, we fancy a weekend toy. thinking around 2005-07 z4 (e85 is it??) with the 2.5l engine

Hi and welcome.

Yes it is the E85 that you want - the one that allows you to see the sky when you're driving.

Not that I have had another Zed, but the consensus of opinion is to go for the 3.0L, but many will say that the 2.5L is fine.

Good luck with your search.

You should also look at the E89 25i. You will soon see the rivalry between the E85 and E89 camps.

Welcome OP.

Hopefully you will find one you like soon!

ETA Don't forget the photos when you do.

I have avoided this problem - I've only had E86s! :fuelfire:

Hi and welcome!

List of advise on here and plenty of newbie threads here with checklists, what to look out for (common failures etc), so take a browse and ask if unsure.

I'm sure you'll find a Zed which is for you (e85, e86 or e89!). They're all amazing machines! :)

Welcome and good luck with your search

Best of luck in your search there are a few people posting looking for cars. Prices will only climb in the next 3 months as the weather warms.

Welcome. I'm sure you'll get a few pointers on what to look out for when buying a Z. Lot's of info on here. Good luck and be patient, impulse buys can cost money in the long run.

There is no debate when it comes to 4 v 6

So having resolved that, there is then the N/A v Forced Induction debate - even though IMHO there is no debate. :P

Larger N/A engine against a smaller engine with turbo. Easy have both

haha, so a few different opinions then. i'm old fashioned and prefer a big heavy lazy lump, to an overworked small lump, but wouldnt say no to either lol
