Evening,

I am looking at my first car, a 2006 Z4 2.0 Sport with 56K miles and 7 stamps in the book recorded at 10/27/40/46/47/52/54k miles. Not sure if these are BMW or independent services. I haven't seen the car as yet and haven't spoken to the dealer, just doing my home work. MOT is clean and current to Jan 2022.

Is there anything I should be looking for in terms of faults, issues etc. Is there any work you think should have been done i.e. use of correct oil, change of timing chain, recalls that I should be aware of. Lastly, is £6K a fair price.

This is all new to me, so your advice would be really appreciated.

Charlie

Hi, have a read through this for some guidance https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21281
It’s probably a good idea to check current prices for similar cars on autotrader etc to get an idea if it’s sitting in the right price range.

Hi and welcome to the forum Charlie.

I don't know about the 2.0 engine, but if they are anything like the 6 cylinder ones timing chain shouldn't be a problem.

One common issue on E85s is a dying/dead roof motor so it's worth checking it works correctly. If not there are a few people on here who can often revive tired ones and relocate them into the boot so they don't get wet.

Rear brake pipes can also suffer from corrosion where they exit the plastic cover just in front of the passenger side rear wheel.

Good luck with your search.

Hi Smartbear and Mr Tidy,

Thank you so much for your suggestions they really came in useful when viewing the car, a deposit has been placed and hopefully I will buy subject to the RAC inspection report!

Once again many thanks and see below for a photo of the car.

Hi and welcome to the forum
Lovely looking e85, Congratulations on the new purchase  (hopefully)
I’m sure you will love owning and driving it :driving:

Welcome to the forum, that's a clean looking zed Charlie. Nice colour combination
Make sure you cycle the roof a few times before you hand over the final amount, a good bargaining tool if it's not working correctly.
Looking at the MOT history, it's had a few silly fails in its life, nothing to much though.
Have fun with it mate
