Evening All, been browsing and reading quite a bit across the forum for a while and felt t was time to join and get involved, you seem like a friendly bunch!

I'm in the early stages of z4 searching, (kind of, as I have been half looking on the usual sited and the for sale on here for months) but getting closer to reality now,
at the moment I am in the search for a 3.0 roadster probably in sterling grey as there are a lot available and will be looking at the cheaper end of the market. Not sure on specs really but can someone explain the different seat options available?

I am hoping to look at my first one this weekend just to get the ball rolling although the pictures don't particularly excite me for some reason?! The driver seat looks quite worn, but this is quite common I think I read??

I personally ideally would be looking to buy privately rather than a second hand car salesman!

I live in the sticks in North Devon and would be interested to hear from any members down this way to maybe talk to or be given a ride maybe!

I know already I would like to get some csl reps for my Z4 as personally feel they change the whole look dramatically and for the better.

Welcome and Hello

Whatever model you go for, you won't be disappointed, but here were my list of wants prior to buying

Sport Model - gets you M Suspension, Seats, Steering Wheel and from my understanding more power
Xenons
Bluetooth - must have
SatNav
Parking Sensors

It's all about what you want and when it comes to models, what you like the look of.

I went down the Coupe road and love it, but take your time and remember there's nothing wrong buying from a dealer especially a reputable one.
you'll get a 3 month warranty at least (most of the time) and someone to complain to if something isn't right.

Yes you pay more but it's all about service.

Saying that when buying private, be vigilant and you can save yourself some money.

Go for the best your money will stretch to and don't be afraid to travel to get the car you want.

Good luck

Hya Liam , lots to read through on the forum but in general the Z4 is a well made machine & has few problems that aren't well documented .
the seats in the car you highlight are standard so not sport or M spec ( sport or M seats are the same but some M's do have logo in headrest )
some seats do have heating including the standard ones & some are electrically operated with a memory function
anyhow welcome & with an eye to switching to CSL's before you even bought i,m sure you will be at home here

Welcome and good luck with the search.

I was really lucky and found exactly what I wanted only 18 miles away from me and very soon into my search.

I am hoping to collect on Monday next week!!

THank you for all your welcomes, I went to look at the car I posted above on saturday and it made me look forward to getting one more but equally it didnt feel right, the air con rad had had an impact maybe a bird or stone and I think I will look at some more as and when they come up. I came across a nice priced z4 and had these seats;

How would you describe them? by the looks of it to me they are half leather? the majority of the ads I have looked at seem t have full leather, they also generally seem to be black, from browsing the forum I think I would prefer red leather ideally M seats, how common would this option be and what kind of premium would it cost?

I found this lovely zed on ebay
$(KGrHqF,!qcFEOfDTY-4BRKkVkPYig~~60_57.jpg A 2006 with 41k miles it looks pretty perfect to me and a lovely spec but at £10k seems a lot but how close to market value for a 06 is that? It seems quite close to m money really to me... but is quite alot more car than the 2003 £6000 cars I have generally been looking at?
thanks Liam

Hi Liam, welcome along. The pale coloured seats are (optimistically and confusingly) called sport seats by BMW. Note though that they are not M-Sport seats. Will be probably from an se car. There is a basic but rare non se/ non sport -think 's' designation - model that may have been the original home for these seats.......

welcome.

just remember, buy a car that has what you want in it. there are plenty of others out there if one doesn't fit the bill (with regards to body, engine gearbox, colour etc)

Hi and welcome

The 2nd Zed looks good, has full BMW service history and comes with BMW warranty until June so covered for anything unexpected. Current owner has everything detailed, worth a visit if interested, could do a lot worse. Price might be a tad high, but might be able to broker a deal yourself with the seller.

Liam, I'd keep a close eye on the cars for sale section of the forum. There have been a couple around your price point, and probably a better spec. Certainly they'd most likely have been well looked after.

The main thing is to keep your head about you and don't panic into buying. You're in the cheaper end of the market but there are good cars out there at your price point.
