Hi guys/girls

First post on here as only joined today :)
I'm thinking of buying a z4 roadster most probably looking at a 2.5. Was just wondering what the model lineup is and the spec with said model. Plus any other tips you could offer me while looking for one.
Cheers Jason

Hi and welcome to the forum Jason!
You will find a lot of friendly helpful people here!
Specs vary accross all engines but if you're looking to maybe sell on it may be wise to catch one with all the toys: satnav, top hifi system, cruise, heated seats, etcetc.
I bought a z4 recently and would advise that investing in a bmw-specific OBD scanner that you could use when going to view/inspect cars.
'Carly' app and wireless dongle work great but there are others and a quick search of the threads here will enlighten you to whats available.
Check for oil leaks at the back of the engine cam cover, oil filter housing and below sump mating. check for split air intake boot between MAF and throttle body as well as any signs of overheating. full service history preferably as well as all the other usual checks but an obd scan with the ok of a willing owner would be highly beneficial too.
u wouldnt consider a 3.0i over the 2.5. More power, as good fuel economy with 6th gear and potentially higher resale value....
good luck!

As above: don't restrict yourself to a 2.5 - fine engine, but you maybe surprised at the similar running costs of the 3 ltr

Welcome to the forum OP.

Some helpful advice already!

Agree with what has been said about considering a 3.0 as well, seeing as running costs are virtually the same. 3.0 may cost more to buy than a similar 2.5, but will always be worth a bit more when you sell.

If you can try both before you commit, but whatever you do go for I hope you find one you like soon (then we can have some photos)!

Cheers for the advice guys will keep the 3.0L in mind. Looking to spend about 5k max, as it's not going to be main car just always fancied the zed so going to treat myself :)

Hi, the si models were introduced in 06-the older cars used the dependable m54 engine with the si range using the magnesium n52 which produced more power & greater economy.
Plenty of fans for both camps & both have there strong & weak points
