Hi, is the "drop link " the same as the "anti roll bar link", I've been told a bush has deteriorated but different people are quoting different things ?

no, the arb is a long bar across the front or rear, whereas the drop link comes down onto it.

does that make sense

i will did out some pics

Thanks all,

On further info gathered it is the offside front lower "Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover" excessively deteriorated so that it no longer prevents the ingress of dirt ,

Is this a rubber gaiter or the like ?

No, sounds to me like the outer plastic cover on the front drop link. They shouldn't be more than about £30 a pair so have them both replaced and be done with it. Easy DIY if you have a jack and stands. Age and/or mileage wise it's worth considering refreshing bushings, many of mine were tired at best.
