Newbie question about z4 heated seat swap.

I tried searching but nothing seems to be there.

So i have a U.S. 2003 z4 sport edition. It doesn't have the heated and power seats. I want the heated and power seats.

I read somewhere that the 2006+ facelifted doesn't have prewires for the swap if you have manual seats. Does that mean 2006 and lower models have wires for you to plug and play and install the center console for heated and powered seats?

Can I buy heated and power seats from another z4 and directly swap and plug it in without having to splice or cut any wires?

The powered seats seem interchangeable... But heated means a new loom... Not sure if older models come prewired... But if it did you would still need the buttons which as near the ashtray, next to the roof controls.

Yep pretty sure the earlier models have all looms and wiring required, it's just a case of swapping over the seats and plugging everything in. But you do need to source the centre console panel with heated seats button, which can be quite difficult/expensive in itself.

If I remember correctly, it's only the very early cars which have the heated seat loom in place. Here in the UK it seems that all of the 2003 models do, and some of the 2004s. After this, the loom was only added when the option was specified. Might be worth removing your seat and checking before you buy anything.

Andrew.

My 2003 had all required wiring to do this. It came with electric seats, but not heated, I sourced some heated seats (and the control panel which cost me a fortune), plugged them in and hey presto.
