Hi all. Thought I'd say hello as I joined today. I'm currently looking for a Z4 so have started trawling through the threads. Everyone seems really friendly so I guess that's half the battles when making new friends!

I used to have a 200SX which I LOVED and now want another bit of fun!

I'm looking for a hard top convertible, 3.0 or 3.5 with a budget of about £15K. Must have front parking sensors but other than that, I don't want to be too picky.

If you have any hints or tips, I'd be greatly happy. Hope to chat with you all soon.

Andyarmra.

Welcome along to the mad house. :D My first bit of advice would be try a soft top ///M roadster at that price you should be able to find one and there just sooooo much fun. :driving:

Loved the 200SX had loads of Nissans, over the years, but only ever test drove the 200, never lucky enough to own one.

Hi and welcome.

I can confirm that the ///M Roadster is indeed a lot of fun! :)

Good luck with your search.

Welcome to the forum, although the Zed has a bonnet half a mile long OEM parking sensors are only optional on the rear! Good luck with your search.

Hi all. Thanks for the advice. The Z will be my all year round car. I'm looking for a hard top auto as I've been told they are much quieter than a soft top and safer. Am a little worried about the cold weather driving but only time will tell!!

I can tell you that a soft top when closed in the winter and with the heater turned up is a very warm place to be. There is so little air to heat up in the cabin it soon becomes very cosy.

Hi there Andy,

There is'nt a 3.5 Zed available, 3 litre is the maximum engine size. The daft numbers BMW use are quite confusing. If you want a hard top 15k will get you an E85 M or any other E85 with a separate remove able hardtop, E86 is the coupe, or you could get a later generation E89 which is a folding hardtop, there's lots of debate about which is the better of the cars on here, end of the day it's your preference. If it's a roadster and a daily driver with no hassle with hard tops you want I'd suggest an E89.

15k will get you an early model, from 2009 onwards, 35i, with around 50-60 k miles which is a 304 BHP twin turbo 3 litre, available in either manual or DCT, you won't get a range topper 35is for that money but the 35i is plenty powerful enough. The 28i from 2009-2012 is actually a 6 cylinder 3litre, normally aspirated, then changed to a 4pot single turbo after 2012. For cheap-ish running costs and decent power either model is a very good choice, although 6 cylinders is hard to beat. The E89 has a nicer interior and much better nav and media system and does'nt suffer from sticky steering like some E85's, apart from the M's, can do. They also ride better on run flats than the E85/6.

We could ramble on for ever and I'm sure others will be along with better info than me.

Good luck with the search and keep us posted with pics when you find one please.

hello & welcome! If i had 15k to spend i'd be looking at the best 30i you can get a sport model, this evades the expensive turbo issues on the 35i models, plus still provides over 272bhp of performance :)

Ah goodie. Lots of good info. Thanks! I'm looking for the E89 30 or twin. Anything after 2009. I'll keep you posted once I have her!!

WOOHOO!!! Finally got one! I'll be posting pics once I've picked it up.

2011, deep sea blue with cream leather.
Highline with lots of trimmings!

Happy happy happy!! :driving:

I would say welcome to the forum but I just realised you were here first! :P
