Newbie, No Z4 - Yet...

Hi there,

My heart is set on a Z4, but its tied into selling a house first...
(Which will be a task in itself, in the current climate!)

My Prospective car would be as follows...

Roadster
--
04+ plate
Below 60k Mls
--
Sterling Grey
Manual
3.0
Carver/Upgraded Stereo
Xenon Lights
Heated Leather Seats

As a bonus...
CSL Reps or any alloys that look more 'spokey'
classic sports car than modern 'pimped'.

Though I'm sure I'll go with anything
once it comes round to getting the car.

Its still a way off, so no test driving yet...
- on acceleration, does it push you back in your seat?
Or is that a sensation experienced only by passengers?

My Dad had a Honda Integra Type-R in the late 90s and I remember
as a passenger being blown away by the acceleration.
(Surely a 3.0 Z4 will be faster?)

Cheers,

The sensation of being pinned in your seat is all relative.... I don't find mine does it... Even with hard acceleration.... But my passengers do....

The 5th gear review of the z4m had a test where they stuck a £20 to the windscreen and on hard acceleration the passenger couldnt move forward off the seat to pull it off!

Lots to be had out there... And its great in summer with the roof down!

Good luck with your search.

Welcome! Im a newbie too.

Thats quite a shopping list! You can add a few of the extras yourself though like the xenon lights, they're not too pricey but a little hard to fit from experience! x

Hi, thanks for your replies...

I'd definitely be interested in Shidevil & inkey$ cars in the Buy/Sell section.
But until I shift the house, I can't make any moves towards buying a Z4. :|

Yeah, The 'sensation' must be down to actually being/not being in control of the acceleration itself.

Keeping my options open on the spec
- but I'm sure its worth the wait to find 'the one' :)

As summer ends is it literally a case of 'Ding - everyone put your prices down by £xxxx!
Very simply put, but how does the seasonal pricing effect work?

Cheers,
..

Just thought I'd update...

No Z4 as yet - but I'm now actively looking.
(As in daily checking Pistonheads/Autotrader/Ebay/BMW AUC)

My search criteria has switched to:

Facelift Z4 (06 or 07 if I'm very lucky)
Silver / Metallic Grey
(2.5 Sport / 2.5si Sport / 3.0si Sport)
Red or Black leather.
MV2 Wheels

Anything else is a bonus! :)

And to completely narrow the amount of cars to choose from within my budget:
- must have Isofix/Airbag De-activation.

Having been watching the Pistonheads and Autotrader (facelift) z4 listings like a hawk, its amazing to see how
some really drop their price over the weeks while some have constantly remained the same price for months.
- Like the one I've got my eye on - Grrr :x

And just how many facelift 2.0s there are! (loads)

Ah well, I'm sure one will come along eventually.

..

Think you will really stuggle with the air bag switch, but it can be retrofitted. Have to make do with non iso baby seat though

I guess I'll just have to see if I get lucky with a cheap '07 that has the Iso/Bag as standard.
If an '06 that had it specced as an optional xtra doesn't come along beforehand.

..

Phew...
Found one with isofix
and airbag de-acti!

And in the colour scheme I didn't think I'd manage to get (silver-grey/red leather).

Deposit down and pencilled in for collection in 2 weeks.

=)

..

Well done - it's going to be a long 2 weeks

Remember that there's no deactivation switch for the roof - default position = down as long as there's nothing falling out the sky

The check list mentioned is in my signature. Thorough check before handing over the cash and you wont end up dissapointed or with any nasty suprises.

Cheers all.

Little more info...

3.0si, '07 plate, 22k miles.
2 owners, (first being BMW.)

Buying from an independent
sports car dealership.

..

Picked it up on Saturday.

Absolutely amazing!

also surprised at how 'chunky' and solid it feels inside. (I guess this is how BMWs are.)

Will come back with pics and a longer description later.
