Newbie. Looking into Z4 Purchase :)

Good Afternoon :driving:

My names Jordan I am 28 years of age and I am from Darlington North East. I'm big into the car scene and usually spend all of my money modifying them which I have suddenly just grown out of. I've been looking at BMW 325Ds but feel that these are a little too big for me as I usually tend to go for smaller cars. I had an Audi TT 225 Quattro which I sold to get a little VW Lupo open-air. I miss the TT so feel a BMW Z4 would be an appropriate choice, I also like them as they come and I really want something nice to drive and fun

I would really like a coupe but don't really want to spend that kind of money at the moment so im just after some advice on what Roadster would be best for me to buy. Im looking to spend 6.5-7K max.

I would like something that would possibly match up to the TT but not cost an absolute wedge on fuel.

Hello Everyone and thanks in advance for any help and advice you can give me

my 2 Previous cars as ive heard you guys feel threads are worthless without pics ha-ha:

Welcome to the forum, I wouldn't base any buying decisions on fuel consumption as there is hardly any difference between the engines (unless you go for the 2.0 ltr which is a bit more frugal). I would suggest trying to find a 'facelift' 3.0si but you may have to up your budget. You will find a pre-facelift 3.0l within your budget and they are no slouch either. Anyway, just some thoughts off the top of my head.

Hi and welcome.

Thanks for the pics.

Don't feel that you would be settling for 2nd best with a roadster - they are the thinking man's choice! :D

I think that most of the folk on here will tell you to go for the 3 litre if you can, but let's wait and see. The ///M is, of course, awesome and I always get more than 23 mpg. :)

Good luck with the search

Welcome aboard. Like Marlon suggested. The 3ltr Zeds offer good bhp / mpg. There are several different variants. The SI models have more power and the post face lift cars have a bit more again plus better fuel economy. I'm sure some one more knowledgeable than me will explain all the details,

Love the paint on the TT. What colour is that? 8)

Hi there, nicely done with the pics

+1 for the 3.0si - I get at least 32mpg out of mine on a combined run. M'way at a steady 70 and I'm getting 44-46mpg, not bad for 260-odd bhp.

Gd luck with the search :)

You will find it difficult to find a 3.0si at your price point (- keep looking for a high mileage you never know) but you could consider a 2.5si which have all the looks and corner capabilities with very little on the road difference in engine performance (make certain it's the higher output engine) less desirable so cheaper.

If you want to go 3.0 litre you will find lots of pre facelift (pre 2006) 3.0 litres for sale - find a well cared for and well maintained example and it will serve you well. Plenty about so take time to find just the one you want.

If you've grown out of modifying come join us in Newcastle for a few hoons and see if you like making the most of your Zed's capabilities

Hi Jord , decent budget £7k , sit tight & that should see you into a 2.5/3.0Si over the winter
Probably up on the miles 80kish but look for low owners & lots of history plus study the forum buying guides
For now lets share some TT love , my 2nd V6 Mk1 (both DSGs )

Welcome aboard the crazy ship.

Nice TT - those mk1s are looking at the moment. I'm selling my 2.5si soon and it will be in budget for you. Only problem is you are bloody miles away!

Hi Jordan................don't be put off by the earlier 3.0 roadsters. I have owned both Z4 and TT roadsters and found the Z4 to be
both quicker and more economical to run.
