Newbie looking for advice before pickup

Hi,
I've put a deposit on a 08 2.5 si sport z4. The car is from a BMW dealer, under the Approved Car Scheme and comes with a 2 year BMW warrantee. I haven’t seen the car yet as I its about 120 miles from me.

I spoke to the dealer again today, he said its just past its approved car test and was off for its MOT today.

I'm obviously going to test drive before i sign the dotted line. My only slight concern was that I found out today the car has 3 previous owners, the first though was a BMW manager.
Is this common for a convertible (people buying it for one summer etc) or should I b a bit concerned?
thanks
Toby

Hello & welcome, I am not an expert & I always buy low owner cars just out of habit, but cars like the z4 do have many owners as they are sometimes bought as summer toys then the owner gets rid, I think as long as the car is looked after & mileage tallys to the condition it shouldn't be a problem.

Base you decision on how clean the car is & if its in great nick then how many owners it has shouldn't matter, good look going forward & enjoy when you get one!

Thanks, thats what I thought i.e. summer toy, weekend cars.
It has 25K on the clock.
As its a BMW approved car i'm guessing it will be very clean. Ive had a video from the dealer and it looks it pretty damn good condition.

Does anyone know if the BMW approved scheme is as good as BMW say it is?

We have bought three beemers through the approved scheme & we have been very happy with them, just go over them with immense detail as I looked at a six month old 3 series convertible once at a approved dealer & I was surprised at how many bits needed tweaking on it he was happy to sort them though if we bought it.

Some people have had mixed results with them though that I have picked up from reading different forums, I hope it's a cracking motor for you & if you get it don't forget to put some nice piccies up for us! :D

welcome to the world of Zed . wouldn't be too concerned on the owners as long as the car looks cared for . almost new at that mileage :)
which dealer ?

Welcome to the forum. Wouldnt be worried about 3 owners, nor the mileage. Check that the condition and history are good, they're most important.

The BMW approved used scheme really depends on the dealer. I've heard good and bad stories. Buyer beware.

Best of luck

Hi and welcome! Re the number of owners, as long as the car has been cared for it wouldn't put me off.

Thanks guys.
Its Bluebell BMW in Wilmslow.
The video that the dealer sent to me of the car looks good.
They have just done the MOT, Brake Fluid Service and they are refurbing 2 of the 18" split rims on the car.
The 2 year BMW warentee gives me peace of mind as well.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.Good luck with the purchase BUT check the vehicle thoroughly before you hand over your cash - particularly the service history. There is a checklist in my signature which is generally for older cars being purchased but taking 30 minutes to do a thorough check may save you heart ache in the future.

Hope it all goes OK

I bought my 5 series from Bluebell Crewe & it's the same family owned company as Bluebell in wilmslow & the service I received was excellent, the only thing we noticed when our old 3 series went to wilmslow for a service is that they think money isn't an object because of the area!

I used to work in handforth just around the corner from that dealer & the 3 series went in for some paintwork & they did a stunning job so I think your in safe hands, just check thoroughly to be on the safe side.

Exciting times for you, enjoy!

AUC is worthless in reality. It's down to dealer discretion, so do your own checks on service history and check the car over, don't just their word for it check yourself as I along with others have found AUC cars that have not been serviced properly which would void any warranty.

The BMW warranty on the other hand is very good though.
