Newbie looking for a Z4

Hi guys. I’m looking to buy myself a wee Z4 - after separating from my husband I don’t have a lot of spare cash so I’m looking at 5k. I’ve found a few that look really great on eBay but I’m not really sure what I should be looking out for as it’ll be an older car- probably an 07 or 08. Any advice welcome🥰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿0BF8A453-1690-46D1-A732-8A19081412A3.png8E9CB5C1-D11C-4EE2-BD9F-A95C5105904C.png

Welcome aboard Claire.
The market seems to be slowing and there are bargains to be had out there.
May I suggest you ask nicely and see if there is a forum member nearby who could take a look at the car with you.

Why only 2.0i's? They don't have the best of reputations engine wise once you get to higher mileages and are only a 4-cylinder.
Maybe look at the 2.5 straight 6 engine.
Or if you go a little bit older, consider the 2.2i, also a straight 6.

I know it's a bit of a way from you, but Stuart (bigwinn) has a lovely blue one that he's completely overhauled.

It's well below your budget, which gives you a bit left over for tax and insurance.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. The 07/08 cars are generaly reliable and the body work should be rust free if not there will be one that is rust free. The gadgets are old tech so mostly worth nothing extra. Heated sports seats are worth seeking out though comfy and a must for top down driving in the cooler months. The suspension and running gear are also pretty robust on these cars. Bound to be getting tired past 80k miles, but mostly still fine to swoop along the lanes in for many more after that. Alas I no little about the 2ltr engine, so will leave that to others. :)

Hey. Thanks for that, I only do around 40 miles a week 🫣👀😂 I was actually worried about water ingress too. I had a Smart Roadster Brabus a few years back & it was a constant hassle

Only water issue is the location of the roof motor which can get drowned if the roof drains block.
Find one that's had it relocated to the boot and that will remove that potential problem.
If not, you need to check it all works well.

Welcome. Worth putting your location in your profile, as has been said chances are there will be someone nearby willing to give some advice. Also lets us suggest a good Indy near you for any work needing doing.

Down, boy! :poke:

Ah, quoting out of context, puerile schoolboy humour, thread drift and bringing nothing to the table. Stop pinching my jobs [ref]Pondrew[/ref], :P

Hello and welcome from another Scottish member

Like already suggested I’d be looking at a 6 cylinder rather than an early 2.0 4 cylinder :driving:

Good luck with your search.

Beat me to it Andy.
If it is him then he's not been on the forum since 12th May
