afternoon :)

Im on the look out for a new car and the Z4 and boxster s have come into my sights as at £15/16k a.lot of car can be had for very little price imo!!

was looking at the alpina roadster s but i don't like the orange front lights and would be a shame.to mess around with an alpina!!! i also can't find anywhere to insure me on one.

just some questions about them...

any key things to look at when viewing? I've seen a lovely 07 plate with 24k miles for £15,950 in blue with a lot of extras :) also a question on the services are they just mile dependant or age dependant? in terms of the inspection? I'll be doing 10k a year in it and the oil will be changed every 6k for piece of mind :)

There is difficulty insuring Alpinas, as many insurers don't recognise the make and treat them as "imports" which either ramps up the insurance, or disqualifies them from quoting. Look at the Alpina forum thread on insurance, plenty of posts there.

If you are looking at Alpinas, would having recommend a look at this one - car is fairly well known on the Alpina forum, so post a question on it there, they're a friendly bunch - the car used to be owned by Glyn (a member of this and the Alpina forum).

You won't find an Alpina as an '07 reg though, last ones were '55 (IIRC)

What Z are you looking for ? I guess if you can't get insured on an Alpina then an ///M is also not possible ?

Best starting point for 'what to look for' is in AlanJ's buyer checklist here : http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21281

There is another link in his sig about getting the best out of dealers that is handy too.

Services are in a specific order and are determined by mileage, fuel consumption, how the car is driven and a bunch of other things I don't know - it tells you when they are due. You'll not need to worry about time based if you do 10k per annum as services are roughly every 15k miles, but 2 years is the max time to go without a service of any kind. Brake fluid needs changed every two years. The service order is : oil service, inspection 1, inspection 2, oil service, insp 1, insp 2 ... And so on.

Hope that helps - good luck with your search, you'll get plenty help here

Thanks for that I tried some of those insurance companies and its prices of £2k+ or uninsurable :(

The 07 was a ///M roadster  I want to feel the wind in my hair :driving:

Thanks for the advise though :)

You'd be surprised... 21 no points and 2 years ncb as the ///M roadster at £770 which is £20 more than my current clio 200.

Thats for the link I'll take a look now.

Ah thats okay to know, I just wondered if the inspections had to be done at set years.

The one I am looking at has £24k and is an 07 so what service or services should have been carried out?

Thanks for all the comments everyone I look forward to sorting a deal out

went and viewed a monaco blue one today, it was already sold so no test drive but I was allowed to look around/in etc. oh my... i have never looked at one before and Im amazed at how good it looks in the flesh compared to photos, so much presence!! especially as it was next to a 12 plate M3! a roadster of course ;) loved the look at now making a deal on one. lets hope it goes smoothly as I can't wait for this baby!!
