Have you seen this one I posted earlier?

Just a had a look now, looks lovely. It's over an hour away from me, and that's too far really just for the purpose of a test drive :(.

Tbh you'll have to travel for an ///M, I travelled to Bradford, Essex, Leicester and finally Kent before I got mine, I think there are 14 ///MR's on PH at the mo, scattered all over.

When I'm ready to buy, I'll be willing to travel UK wide. Did a 550 mile round trip when I bought my zed.

The guy who bought my 3.0i did an 850 mile round trip to buy it. You'll need to be flexible re distance in the buying process, but it'll be worth it

Same here. My M was in Wilmslow, Cheshire. I'm in London. Train there, massive hoon back.
Its the law.

I bought mine local- only 2 hours away :driving: the 3.0 was bought 350 plus miles away .

You will need to travel for an M - Boxters available outside most good estate agents

OP, on relation to the issues to look for, I would look for:
Condition of tyres and if they are all the same brand and even ware accros an axle....ask why if not
Condition of the wheels, more an indication of the care liven by the owner rather than a technical issue.
Does the roof work properly, this an expensive bit to fix
The idle blip/revs falling issue.....search this as it is very common, but does not really cause a problem...but they do not all do it.
Inspection 2, and were you are in relation to this
Brake fluid change and again where you are in the cars service schedule.
Rear springs pig tails can break
Do the calipers work properly, it is a known issue for the near side front to stick.
1200 mile run in service.
The clutch rattle is characteristic rather than an issue.
Does it drive straight, the alignment is very easy to knock out....done that.

Excellent drive though, does both daily cruse and flat out blat toy. :D

Perfect, thanks for that. Very helpful indeed.

Regarding finding a car, I'm more than willing to travel when it comes to buying, just hoped that while I'm just looking there would be a more local option. Suppose it's the same thing anyway. I'm up in the Midlands with work on Friday, if memory serves me correctly there are some in that area, will have to take a looksie :D.

Good News!

Finally driven a Z4MR. Loved it. Totally different animal to the Boxster, sounded better, lovely rasp, and more intake noise than I expected. Whole car felt more raw. Also was impressed with the roof down it wasn't very blowy even at 70mph. Found it difficult to shift smoothly at first, was the same with my 330i but as the car warmed up seemed to get better. Either way I now know its the car for me!

Going to keep an eye out, but being realistic I need to wait till March before I purchase ideally.

Hi Tom,
I see you may be in the market for a Z4M. I have a 2006 M that has 23,000 miles on the clock, it is in great condition with 19" wheels, FSH etc, etc

I've had it for 2.5 years and having just hit 60 I need to revert to a more practical 4 seater, an M3 may be on the horizon.

If you are interested please mail me on [email protected] to allow me to provide pics etc.

Cheers, Ian

Thanks for sharing that, I'm not ready to make a purchase until March yet. Just fact finding at the moment.
