Looks like easy money, as I said if closer to me I’d be on it and purely for fixing and resale and a bit of cash in my pocket
Sometimes.... been lucky a few times, but it only takes one

Thats the thing, MOT history looks good but missed 2019 for some reason - would defo do HPI check on it

The seller says he bought it 8 months ago from his friend who passed away, and has kept it in a garage since then. That does stack up with the mot history.

I was seriously tempted for a minute and at around £5k I probably would, but if it goes for £6750 then it's not so much of a bargain (after travelling and minimum repair costs - the drivers side front grill looks broken and potentially a largish scratch on the front panel) that it would be worth the time and effort. There are a few similar on Autotrader for £8.5-9.5k so I'd be cautious and estimate getting £8k for it if selling on, which brings the profit down into the hundreds.

Its jumped to £5,500 now - if it stays around there then yes it is probably ok and allow £1k for repair then sell at £8.5k - otherwise its not that good a deal

100% correct, it only takes one but I’d be reasonably comfortable that this is a battery and software issue form what’s been said. That and there’s a fair margin left in it for further repairs

I think it is a battery issue - done no mileage in 3 years and probably no trickle charger attached to it :(

My thoughts exactly, btw you’ve a bloody garden to finish and a patio to lay so don’t be getting distracted buying cars you don’t need :poke:

I think 95% certain that is the issue - same with that white 35iS

I also have a bathroom to do, then a kitchen and then an annex to sort as well, that's why I employ builders as my DIY skills are crap plus time is limited :)

I could sort out a car - fit a battery and get the software downloaded and hopefully all done then its a service and polish - sell :D

Evening... on the road to recovery and decided to venture to Silverstone Classic this weekend. Never been but as every car club should be catered for I thought there would be many E89 Z4‘s on display, I was wrong, 3 cars out of thousands of others, 2 were very nice indeed though. Then I thought I better start looking again.... How is the E89 market looking? Will my 10k still pick up a lovely example?

Hi Ash, glad your recovering.

10k may still be a stretch but they are out there for certain - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202107235364441?model=Z4&include-delivery-option=on&aggregatedTrim=23i&sort=relevance&radius=1500&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&make=BMW&postcode=np45xf&price-from=5500&page=6

Appreciate it Sean.

Might have to up the funds I feel...

Sorry to hear of your roof issues I’ve just read about, what warranty did you have that so thankfully stepped in if you do not mind me asking? A warranty sounds very appealing now.

Cars are rare at under £11k for a decent Msport with some kit such as iDrive, there is a cracking VO for sale on here at what I would say is a very reasonable price but it is a 4 pot.

There seems to be a pile of red and the obvious white cars around at the moment but not much under £11k, another 6 or 7 weeks and summer is over so you may find something then but all need to travel.

Roof was not to much of a hassle really, only the one night when I had to put it into my neighbours garage - just the standard microswitch issue, will do the salmon relays next.

I had an RAC warranty - seems ok to be honest but would want at least some type of warranty on an older car just for these reasons

I’ve noticed quite a few nice 4 pots with low mileage but again think it’s best to hold out for this elusive 6 pot.

During looking for this Z4 I wanted all the trinkets as you know but now my sensible head is on and a lower mileage with warranty of some sort is a must so some of my extras will depart to make sure my anxiety levels are lower with a fairly good warranty if possible.

So a Z4 (not white)
23i / manual
Mileage around 50k
In warranty or can be added.
Sports seats
Upgraded stereo
Price under 10.5k

Can you buy an RAC warranty for a used BMW I can’t see it anywhere?

The VO one on here is a steal at £12.5k

Still think its a big ask but there are cars out there at that money but may struggle with Msport, you need an SE highline I think which will give you the toys but a lot seem to be white. mileage may also cause an issue as anything low miles is a few K more than one with 70 to 80k on the clock.

I have an RAC warranty, bought it with the car at the garage, I am sure they will do one if you buy privately.

Wow I’ve only just noticed the VO one. What a car., never thought I would like an orange colour but with black roof looks great.

It does indeed look the part and at £12.5K a bargain, look on eBay or A/T and 2014 cars are £17k with less mileage but not a worth a £4.5k differential.

Have you seen this one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403025622715?hash=item5dd632f6bb:g:k0wAAOSwccRg8sqM - over £10.5k budget but some negotiation and you could get very close

Yep, not sure though, it looks nice but for me it’s one to see in person, think black seats would be much better.

I saw this and thought it was a steal, shame it is the 4 pot

They’re not known for being cheap, but no heated seats, no iDrive, basic stereo, no wind deflector…………….
