Newbie looking at the E89

Lovely car but wrong engine for me.

However this appeared: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353560833235?hash=item5251de2cd3:g:ssUAAOSwMvZg4dCU

Needs fixing but it looks a nice motor.

So that on the face of it looks like a software update and new battery £300. if everything else all checks out I’d be on the phone offering them their ask or close enough to make them accept before a dealer with the knowledge that’s what it’s likely to be jumps in in front of you and fixes and sticks £5k on it

The roof should work without the handbrake needing to be on, looks like it’s had a flat/faulty battery and it now needs the EPB module reprogramming, it may have other issues with the roof but it could be a relatively cheap fix

Even if you had to spend £2k it would still be good value going by the prices these are fetching.
But definately start with a new battery and the software update and take it from there.

Those were my initial thoughts, battery £125 (with coding), diagnosis £80, software update £180 then its just the roof and a dealer will be in there pretty quick and the car will be up at £11,500.

Looks a bargain to me - always a risk though, especially with the whole "I'm too busy to get it looked at" fiction and the fact it's being sold a few weeks before MOT expiry.

EDIT: If you don't go for it, I might

Will, if it was closer I would be. The car has done almost no miles in 3 years. Battery and updates very likely to solve current issues and if not still plenty in the pot for other stuff. Not a lot of money as a starting point so imo worth the punt when it meets OP’s criteria pretty much

Who are you calling an Ole Git?

As for the location, I'd say it's perfect for anyone - just right for a drive home over the black mountain and through the Elan valley!

Sean isn't that car located just down the road from you? Bargain for someone there with the proper checks done, a little bit of cash injected and also a little bit of TLC. Just check out that rear alloy to see if its been welded or replaced.

Bloody incorrect quotations strikes again.

Ideally located for anyone but me I think, I’d be in danger if loosing bits I think if I was to announce another Zed incoming so soon

Around 75 miles from me so pretty close - now my head is really thinking about it

Would love it but there isn’t a chance in hell I can get there in the next 2 weeks due to work... if anyone buys it fixes the problem and sticks a new mot on it I’ll gladly pay a premium... but I’m sure as in this market someone can make money on it. If only I lived closer, been saying that for months now haven’t I.

Looks like easy money, as I said if closer to me I’d be on it and purely for fixing and resale and a bit of cash in my pocket

Thats the trouble with living in the sticks - everywhere is hard to get to :x
