Newbie looking at the E89

The Highline seem to be going up in price, having just looked - cheapest Msport is over @12k

I am sure there is ideal to be had somewhere on this one - has drive etc. I know its a 4 pot but could be good value or do you defo want a 6 pot

Seems a decent price and probably take less but sadly I really want the 6 pot. His photography skills are a bit lacking

It is indeed a crap ad - is £10k the max budget or can it be squeezed a little?

10k really is top of my budget as it’s a 2nd car, weekend fun. Unless you see an utter bargain just over then I’d have to think hard. I’m sure cars have gone up in the past 12 months though, when you check the old ads some were cheaper even 2 years ago.

I have seen them, I’m sadly not into a white car but it does look well looked after and great price. The black car is great but It looks like someone has modified it somewhat which I’m not a fan.

The cars actually look good in white but that is a personal opinion.

The only mad I can see on the black one is the wheel being painted black which can be put back to OEM for £250

Hi all, I have been reading the forum for a few weeks and it seems a nice bunch of friendly, helpful people, so thought I would join and before I consider a used E89 ask a few questions if I may.
Was never in the market for an E89, I have been waiting for the Mazda MX5 RF to come down in price in the used market but prices have held strong and out of my budget. I drove past a garage that had an E89 (never crossed my radar) and the price was very good so took the car out for a test drive, it was the 2010 model 23i engine, manual and I was smitten by the quality, performance etc, especially for the price. Sadly sold the next day. Now after reading this forum I’m slightly anxious about reliability, engine wise it appears solid but how often do these folding roofs fail and are the repair bills that excessive?

Yep I’m learning as I go. Have few on a list but it’s getting to the point garages are cheaper than private sales, it never used to be this way.

Can’t say that’s a trend I’ve noticed. The only reason I could see the garages being cheaper than private would be considerably higher miles or a much lower spec.

There’s dealers trying to punt 14/15 plate 20i’s at low £20k’s

I’d fully expect you to pick up a nice 23i for £10k but as said you’ll have to have that thing that not many of us are blessed with patience

Not seeing any dealers being less than private sales, it is a total miss mash right now and an absolute minefield with pricing v spec.

Lots of cars with poor spec at £9k anything with a decent spec / mileage is well over £10k

The black car looks ok, the mods appear to be black wheels, new discs, red bars behind the grills and the badges removed.
The bottom of the boot seal looks a bit funny though and does not sit evenly all the way round.
