Hi all,
Recently retired and interested in getting a Z4 as my first ever sports car. This one has caught my eye if anyone has any thoughts on it or suggestions for what I should look for?

Welcome to the forum.
The car you linked to looks ok.
Reasonable price with reasonable miles.
Also notice it has Michelin tyres which is a good sign that the previous owner didn't scrimp on tyres.
The colour is Montego Blue and not Le Mans Blue as stated in the ad.
Take a look at the for sale section on the forum.

Hi and welcome.

I'm biased obviously, but I think the Coupe looks great in Montego Blue!

That one doesn't look dear for a car being sold by a trader and it has a few of useful options, like the rear parking sensors, Multi-Function Steering Wheel, power-fold mirrors and Sat-Nav, but as has already been said it's always worth a quick look at the classifieds on here.

Good luck - they are great cars.

Hope you don't mind if I jump into your thread ...

Just that I'm a similar boat, I've owned VWs and Hondas am looking at the Z4. I've seen the following which seems interesting can I get any feedback on this motor? Does this example look familiar to anyone on the group or anything else stand out to the trained eye?

Z4 SMG

I've heard the SMG can be expensive if it fails how common is this chaps? I read that it's a good idea to look for one with an invoice for pump replacement in this vintage?

Sorry for all these questions..

I'll dip into the more relevant parts of the forum for further advice...

No problem - it’s great to be able to buy one of these. I’m after a manual coupe myself but it does look very nice. Now Christmas is out the way I can put some more time into finding one.

Well mine is up for sale now I've bought an M Coupe! :D

That dealer is 5 minutes from me

I've heard good and bad about them. Hard to know, apart from 1 or 2, online reviews seem alright!

You are familiar with the SMG? Still thinking about it...

Wondering if you would consider checking it over with me for a few beers. :D

I’m off to Gloucester tomorrow, picking up a car with me mate, might get a chance Sunday but going get a few bits for my Scooby and not sure if they are open sundays but I’ll certainly have a look if I get a chance,I’ll be going past later today but it’ll be dark so I won’t go there
RAC report is best bet but let me Ave a butchers first,

Right I had time so went to look on way to picking up Monday’s work,it was just starting to get dark and it had been raining, car looks straight,Paint looks ok but it was still wet in places,The interior was ok didn’t like the wheels but that’s personal taste
I started it up from cold and it sounded on the ball, not a single rattle, went through the gearbox whilst standing still all smooth,
I think it’s worth a look or get an rac bloke to have a look,it’s a nice colour with all black interior
Bottom line is these cars are quite rare compared to yer average boring BM or Merc ect and I’ve had most so if you want something you have to get up off yer butt and go have a look the car dealer was ok with me but was full of shite when I asked how much the rs turbo escort was worth but they are a different breed compared to librarians

Some of you may remember this thread and the car that the first poster inquired about. After a lot of mucking about and lost time because of world events it finally arrived in Auckland New Zealand last week. For those of you interested here it is with the new owner checking out the (mint, unmarked) interior. So with a fresh set of brake discs and pads its on the road next week. :D
