Newbie in shropshire

After many years building cobras, Tvr, and building bigger and bigger hp engines to put in them , decided to grow up a little and get a Z , 3.0 Si auto with some creature comforts

Bought from a forum member, seems to have been cosseted and cared for with good service and very few miles .I bought the best one I could find so I'd be more inclined to leave it alone and not tinker ....I hope the plan works

I'm looking forward to a spanner free summer!

I shall find out Friday when I collect, I'm expecting great things, I enjoyed the z4's that I have driven, very refined in comparison to my normal toys. I've had a 5 and 7 series so kinda know what to expect in some ways

Most of the other toy cars have had big HP, but followed a similar pattern "big displacement v8 in a lightweight car", So noisy , brash, very very quick, handling depended on what suspension I fitted, with few creature comforts.

The last Tvr (Tamora) was the best, it had electric windows and even a roof which the cobras didn't!! Plus I fitted a 640 HP v8.....Fantastic fun and took that round most of the best twisties and maintain passes I could. Loved the experience, but hankered after while for something "different" , So bought a '57 Chevy pickup, fitted 400 HP v8 ls3 auto, and jaguar xjs suspension, and took that on the next trip to LE mans. Absolutely loved it, fun on the straighter roads but it isn't to be hustled around the twisties. That's still in the garage, but I missed the soft top, so bought a vx220, love the handling but in reality was just too small to use. I quite like to head away for a few days at a time around Europe, and just couldn't see that in the vx. Was happy with the reduced power though, think I've done enough of that "big" HP thing now

but i still I fancied a soft top, just more grown up....hence the z

Wow that's quite a list.
I have the 3.0 auto and that's plenty of fun for me, the sports button takes the auto box to another level, your si has more BHP, I hope you get on well with it :thumbsup:
 
Thanks. I'm looking forward to it, might even get my wifey to come with me, she has always disliked the toy car experience, but she can't be un happy in this !
 
Hi,sounds like you know your war around a car,if you do need any work doing Autotech Performance Telford are very helpfull.

Thank you. Are they an indie?

I know a couple of Bmw specialists in Telford, but that was a while back so advice on current ones to look for is great
 
That colour looks terrific, and very classy, on it.

My wife was the same with the Smart Roadster I had, too small. My Z4 is certainly a different kettle of fish.

Yes they are an indie.I have used them for the last few years.Pete the guy who owns the place really knows his stuff,and his prices are more than fair.

That's great thanks, the cars only got 38k on it, so fingers crossed I won't need their services too soon, but I'll add them to my contacts for future services

Hello from another salopian, where do you live? Will keep an eye open for you in my Z coupe. Ap Automotive in Ketley is another good indie who I use.
 
well, my first post on this thread said I wouldn't tinker..... failed so far, but only a little fail

joined the stubby brigade after 4 days (a whippy nearly had my eye out whilst loading the boot)!
fitted a mesh wind deflector
bought some freshly painted ellipsoids, and promptly sold them after deciding the colour wasnt quite right
bought a aux cable which needs to be fitted sometime soon - my old CD collection just doesn't "cut it" according to my daughters
bought a set of 224 wheels - good condition but i might recolour.......
bought a dash cam after nearly getting wiped out in my daily the other day, still got to fit that too
looked at a set of lowering springs on amazon....I've no idea what the hell I'm thinking about there...I like the stock ride too much - was a "whisky fuelled moment"....
cleaned it every weekend so far - that IS a first

also wifey (who has never used my toy cars) took the Z yesterday for a run...WTF!

I'm kinda liking the Z though ......
 
Great move on the 224s Steve , they sit so well on non M Z4s & for pics on a silver grey E85 like yours look up forum guy "swiftly" but ignore the aero cills on his car or its another £600 you will just HAVE to spend :oops:
 
Thanks for the ellipsoid wheels Steve. Good to meet you the other day, you have a very nice Z there. I wish mine was anywhere near as clean too.
I'll put up some pics once I've put the wheels on, but am waiting until at least after Christmas and letting my 103s take the brunt of the winter first.
I have an aux cable run alongside the side of the steering cowl and then plugged a kitsound myjack into it so that I can play music direct from my phone over Bluetooth and also make calls (the car didn't have Bluetooth). It's probably not as fancy as a full system but does the job.
