Newbie in Hampshire

Gov, unfortunately owner wanted more money than you've suggested plus it needed new tyres (probably within next 6 month), new discs and pads all round (MOT advisory) and tax was up in May. As suggested previously, it seems that patience is the key to happiness.

MartynP -very nice car (I saw a previous post of yours). I think ellipsoids and silver are a great combination and this is the type of look I'm after.

Shame but something will come up - I sold my old Zed last year and missed it so much bought my current one a month ago - again some will argue I paid over the top ( nearly £8k ) but what I got was an 04 3.0SE 28k miles , 1 owner . FBMW ( last service Dec12 ) ,totally original condition , 108's ,sat nav , M seats etc ( a file containing every receipt including original invoice for £35888 ). I also negotiated 2 new front tyres ( Bridgestone to match rears ) and a new MOT ( no advisories ). My point is that you really only get what you pay for and I feel that whilst I paid top money for a private sale it was worth it - and at that time nationally there wasn't a similar car with that mileage/spec .

I do understand how disappointing it is when you travel miles sometimes only to find a car that is mediocre at best but there are good ones that come up . Living where I am I haven't been to a meet but all the regulars on here are very genuine and the cars advertised on the " for sale section " here are almost certainly well looked after ( perhaps other than those who seem to join just to advertise their car )

Welcome... my Zed's the first car I've owned with heated seats. Enjoy them now, though you'll find it's the ladies that like this little extra most of all, especially in this cooler snap
 
Progress update with pictures!

We'll my search is over. I've found and bought myself a 3.0 Z4. Despite my initial "I want a a silver z4 with ellipsoid wheels" I've gone for a black number with the split rims!

The car has done just over 50k miles and has full BMW service history. The specification is a touch on the skinny side but has the all important heated seats (the only pre-requisite I had). I've already been tweaking and I've done the sound generator mod (I'm not completely convinced) and I've tackled a cloudy headlight problem (pictures available if anybody is interested). Overall I'm quite pleased. It makes a nice noise, shifts at a decent pace, has a large boot (I got all the shopping in) and mpg is reasonable (30 ish).

Many thanks to everybody on the forum for all the buying information. It was incredibly helpful.

Anyhow, the weather was sunny at the weekend so I washed the car and took a few pictures. Comments and suggestions welcome.
