Hi all,

Greetings from North East of Scotland. New to Forum, looking to buy soonish. Just joined to spy on the classifieds and read up on any particular common faults to watch out for when buying :)

Currently driving a E90 320d with a DTUK box. Lovely car, marmite colour (gold) and just generally a great workhorse. Was meant to be a stop gap when my old Alfa was written off, but I've enjoyed it so much that I've kept it for 2 and a bit years. Loved it soooo much in fact, it's swayed me hugely towards a Z4 when I decided I wanted a 2 seater sports car. So fingers crossed, can get a decent 3.0 Z4 Convertible by spring time. Already got a plan for the Scotland Route 500 Road trip in the summer.

Looking forward to what seems like a good forum for the Z4's!

Welcome to the forum JayHo. I can't think of a better way to christen a new Z4 roadster than Route 500 in the summer. Good luck with your search - keep an eye on the Zeds for sale on here.

Welcome on board. Good look with your spring shopping fest. When you find the car for you, get in quick before the prices ease up a little come the end of March. :)

Hi and welcome.

Check the roof works, Look for broken rear springs, Check the wipers work correctly they stop in the correct place and dont creep up or do a double sweep. on the test drive check the car dose not wander to much tram line. Can indicate worn front bushes all e46 platform cars are a bit harsh on them. Not a big or costly job. I would say a good bargaining tool if it dose.

Happy hunting

Hello and welcome, good luck with the search and oh what fun there is to be had

Hi JayHo,

I'm a newb too - just got my Z4 last month - on your North Coast 500 comment, I've the same idea, and chasing up the idea of a Forum 500 trip here http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=79687&start=30 :)

Haha thanks guys.

Found a few which would be in budget already, but really think I should run the 320d through the winter rather than a new to me Z4.

Hopefully can shift the 320d quick enough when time to sell up.

Yeah, the route 500 would be awesome way to start my Z4 journey. Going with a couple of pals. So far it's me hopefully in a Z4, pal in an E46 M3 and another in a Audi S3.

Did the route last year in a banger and it was super fun and the views were just phenomenal.
