Hello guys,

This is my first post here, so let me tell you that 2 days ago I finally picked my 2005 e85 Z4 3.0i roadster automatic transmission titansilber metallic with red interior :thumbsup: .

So far i am enjoying the car in every way possible.

Mechanical wise the car is almost in perfect condition.

My main issue with the car is that the convertible top not working and as per my experience with convertible bmw , it seems like the hydraulic pump gave up already, I need to look into that when i get the chance, its summer time here in Dubai so it means that there is no way i will put the top down anytime soon as for example the temperature yesterday was 48.5 degrees Celsius :fuelfire:

Other than that some minor problems like the volume knob is not working , the CD changer magazine is missing , the driver's side cup holder is missing and some tear in the driver's seat because of the hard sun hitting the seat here in Dubai also the top is fading so i ordered this forever black restoration kit so i can start with the project soon , final thing is the headlights are yellow and they need to be restored also.

So basically minor things and i hope it wont take long to fix .

I take it you knew about the problems prior to purchase and the price reflected this.
Sounds to me like the roof motor has gone.
Take your time and tackle the problems bit by bit.

More importantly :poke: where's the photos...we really need these up front prior to answering questions :rofl:

Welcome to the form! :) As a couple of people have already stated, where are the photos? :driving: Jealous of the heat you get there! We had snow last week after two warm weeks of sunny weather in Scotland... :idunno:

Your defininitiona of "soon" for the pics, is rather longer than mine. I thought you meant 5 to 10 minutes!

Welcome to the forum and hope you get it all sorted and tidied up soon.

As for the roof, certainly sounds like the motor has gone. Not a cheap fix unfortunately.

i feel retarded haha !! here are the photos i took when i was trying to put the top down
actually i can put the top up and down manually but the light stays on if the top is down.

Forget about the CD casstte..........it will just jam at a later date. Fit an aux input socket instead

do you have any recommendation for the aux socket so i can just buy it ?

i already asked some stores here in dubai for aux and they started telling me its hard for bmw and lots of BS..
when i used to live in the states everything was so much easier. :x
 
Some on Ebay and also you can make your own ( if you like messing about with stuff) there is a thread. BMW also have a kit i believe.

since you have been here for a while so i guess you are familiar with the z4 more than myself .. i will take some pics of the broken plastic parts in my car and i would like some help to find out their names or part numbers .. i have a lot of plastic pieces missing in my car ..
