Evening all. I'm a Newbie so please be kind! Basically, I have a 2007 coupe. Couple of weeks back went out early morning and within a mile the orange engine warning light came on. So took it to my local guy (trusted) and he stuck it on his machine. Fault code was 'inlet camshaft correlation'. He said that I need to change the timing chain as it has likely stretched, or possibly vanos failure. No symptoms of either as far as I'm aware but planning on changing the chain this week at a cost of 800 quid. The car has just done 70k. He is also talking about changing the vanos units which will bankrupt me.......
Has anyone else had this fault code? Or any ideas on what else this could be? I'm now afraid to drive it in case of the chain breaking but it seems crazy that it has stretched at that mileage!
Any ideas/help will be welcomed with a huge thankyou.
Cheers guys/girls
