Hi All,

Not a Zed owner yet but hoping to be one in the coming days/weeks.
I've been reading the forum for the past week or so to give me some sort of idea of what to look out for and it has proved to be very useful.

I thought i found one on Friday evening, advert looked great, the local dealer (2 miles away) said it was in fantastic condition with loads of history. I get quite excited and turn up sat morning to find a car that is scratched to hell, has the airbag light on, radio not working, boot catch not working for 4 out of 5 attempts to close, drivers heated seat not working, no service book or history at all, when turning the car over it says "exactly" 12000 miles to the next service and when pressed he said it was just delivered to him by webuyanycar.com :(

I decided to take it for a run anyway as i haven't actually driven one yet.
It was a 2005 2.5 and i have to say i loved the experience... It drove well enough to tell me that i'm on the right track and that i just need to find the right one.
I think i will probably end up going for the 3.0 due to wanting the 6th gear and a bit more poke in 4th/5th but depending on the condition and price i'm not going to discount a 2.5, i can probably learn to live with it as it will be a weekend car.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

Hello and welcome, there’s plenty popping up for sale on here in the last week and I’ve just read a couple of posts saying more coming shortly. They’re selling quickly so you’ll need to be on the ball.

Good luck with the hunt, it’s half the fun

Welcome to the forum. :)

There was a time when All the E85 models, except the ///M and Alpina, were in a similar price range. I think as they have become older/less of them about and enthusiast are buying them more, that the market has changed subtly and there is now a more pronounced gap in values between the other cars in the range too. So you now pay more of a premium for a decent 3.0 Z4, than was the case a few years ago. All other things being equal.

Interested to here what the market watches, here on the forum, think of those views.

Hope you find your perfect Z4 soon OP.

Good luck with the search. I have a 3.0 M54 E85 and it is a great car. Not much wrong with the 5 speed 2.5 though. I have a feeling that if you did buy a 2.5 you’d always wish you hung out for the 3.0 ltr.

Hi and welcome to the forum Tom.

3 litre models do seem to command a bit of a premium, but you don't want to buy a 2.5 and then regret it.

If you found a facelift 2.5Si that might be an option as they more powerful than the pre-facelift 2.5 and have a 6 speed gearbox - just avoid the facelift 2.5i!

Thank you all for the welcome and advice :)

Last Friday I became the proud owner of my first Zed...
I bought my 56 plate 3.0si from Rob (Nasher32) via this very forum.

I'm absolutely loving it so far.
Managed over 44 mpg on the motorway on the way home and currently getting 34 having fun in a mix of driving.
Definitely made the right decision to hold out for the 3.0 and whilst the auto/flappy paddle box might not be for everyone for me it's perfect as in normal mode it feels like a powerful but slightly lazy American Muscle Car but in sport mode it wants to rip my face off :D

Will need to get the alloys refurbed shortly and add Bluetooth adapter to the interchanger interface but otherwise I'm pretty besotted.

If anyone knows of any decent refurb services near Newport/Bristol let me know.

Congratulations on the purchase of what looks like a very nice car. Nice thick sport steering wheel as well. I’ll let more local people refer you to the refurbisher but enjoy the Z.

Looking good, and the 3 litre N52 engine in yours is great.

And buying a car from a forum member is a bonus!

I can't help with a refurbisher, but if your roof motor hasn't been relocated you might want to contact Number5 on here to get that done as he's near Bristol.

Already done but otherwise I would have done :)

I have a garage in Caerleon that refurbs wheels - Alex Dixon auto repair 01633 430694 talk nicely and will get a decent deal for readies
