After what seemed like years of searching for the right Z4 Coupé (ok, it was only three months) I finally found the one I wanted in Leeds over the summer, but have been enjoying myself with it far too much to do anything but lurking on this forum :driving: Now that the weather's rubbish, I really do have to introduce myself to say a big thank you to everyone who regularly posts here, as the forum's been an invaluable source of knowledge for me as a new Z owner. Last weekend I managed a relatively competent job on my calipers and tophats, which were in pretty poor shape, and the information I found here made it all the easier (especially as I've never really worked on a car before). This seems to be a great forum in that there are a lot of knowledgeable members, and people are able to agree or disagree in a constructive and respectful manner, which is pretty rare for the internet, and especially some car forums... So, thanks!

I know I'm expected to make a photographic offering, but have only got a duff iPhone photo from last night to hand. And some before/after of the calipers. But here they are:

Welcome! Nice to see another Coupe owner - Can't make out if it's silver or grey in the shots - either way it's a nice change from all of the dark ones (mine included!)

Thanks guys. Guisely, you're not confused - it's silver grey. I was hunting for one in black actually, but had a last minute change of heart. What I was certain on was getting MV2s, which probably puts me in a minority here, amongst all the people on 107s and 108s who are really zealous about them!

+1

Looks good, no idea why the stingy gits don't paint the calipers from the factory, and do something with the discs to stop them rusting so badly.

Great looking car - silver grey looks amazing.....be even better in the summer, in early evenings. I had a Space Grey in the 6 Series, and I loved it....

Hi and welcome :D

I too had been looking for a black coupe but found that in the flesh the light plays on the curves of the car and it looks great. Enjoy

Welcome... looks great, especially the calipers... i really want to paint my calipers.. just far too lazy!

Silver grey's pretty awesome at night or in twilight. Like Trut01 says, it's a colour which really emphasises the mixed angular/curvy design of the car. Every now and then I see what looks like a massive dent, but which is just the light! That takes some getting used to... Although in dull overcast conditions, silver grey sometimes looks a bit grubby (or maybe that's just my car rather than the colour :))

Other than the calipers, I probably need to do something about the wheels; when I removed them I saw that there was a lot of corrosion inside. The dealer would have seen it in the AUC checks, but I had no chance to see that when I bought the car, and of course they're not covered by the AUC warranty. That did irritate me a bit. Maybe a refurb's in order.
