Newbie from Kent...with Questions

Hey All!

I have recently purchased my first Z4 2.0i E85 (2007) 2 weeks ago and loving the car already! Already bought a few little mods for the car just to make it look a little different, cant stand looking the same as other Z4's I will upload some pics this weekend, looking for people to give me some ideas on other mods that should be done...

Anyway, I have a few questions if anyone is kind enough to help...

1) I have recently bought Rear License Plate LED Lights but when I go to connect these the original connection does not fit the wedge shaped connector on the new lights? Ive double checked and they are the right lights for the car, not sure if there is something I am doing wrong.

2) I previously owned a 2007 E90 3 Series M Sport and when I unlock my car the rear lights and side lights came on which looked pretty nice especially with the LED Number plate light, on the Z4 I unlock and don't get none of this? Is this right? :|

3) Whats the best product to clean your soft top roof with? Ive heard horrible stories and am a bit worried I may use the wrong product?

4) Again, with the roof is there any rain repellent I can put on so the rain runs straight off?

5) I have some nasty looking gear knob at the moment which looks like a standard BMW one, looking to get a M sport 6 speed one... Any good companies that would stock these?

6) I have the M sport steering wheel already bit no bluetooth capability only the button. Is there a retro fit that is available to link up with the button?

7) What is the R/T Button on the steering wheel?

3) Whats the best product to clean your soft top roof with? Ive heard horrible stories and am a bit worried I may use the wrong product? This has been debated lots, often heated. Ragtop, Autoglym, BMW hood cleaner and Renovo are all good

4) Again, with the roof is there any rain repellent I can put on so the rain runs straight off? This has often had heated debate also. The hood is designed to let water through, and should not be waterproofed. However, Autoglym and Ragtop protector will make water bead and run off the roof

5) I have some nasty looking gear knob at the moment which looks like a standard BMW one, looking to get a M sport 6 speed one... Any good companies that would stock these? eBay has some ZHP gear shifters for approx £55 delivered, alternatively try Storm Works

6) I have the M sport steering wheel already bit no bluetooth capability only the button. Is there a retro fit that is available to link up with the button? I think this can be done, but I'm not an expert

7) What is the R/T Button on the steering wheel? Looks up phone book on phone if you have bluetooth

1) instead of pulling the cable off the old lights, remove the bulb clip from the rest of the old light. Then you can remove the old bulb, the cable from the new light goes where the old bulb was.

Took me ages to figure that out, in the end I found them too bright so have ordered led bulbs instead.

Welcome along, I don't know about anyone else, but your pictures aren't working for me?

If I could see them I'd suggest some bits... sounds good so far though, new weighted ZHP gearknob is essential. They're cheap enough straight from BMW.

Other suggestions, stubby aerial, led boot light, exhaust trim.
