Afternoon all

Actually I'm not that much of a newbie, I've been around for a few months now planning my way into Zed ownership.

And after much planning the other week I picked her up (please excuse the slightly naff photos):

She's a 3.0 auto SE with 72k on the clock. Notable options being M Sport suspension, heated seats, xenon, CD player and hifi system.

I've been a BMW fan for many years and have admired these cars for a while. I'm coming from a mk1 MX5, which with the mods I've done is a great handling car and I wasn't sure if the Zed could match it. Well having done a few of my regular local hooning roads all I can say is "wow"! All the fun of the MX5 but with double the power and silky smoothness. I'm very impressed :driving:

So I've gradually been compiling a snagging list of the car, I paid a good price so I'm happy to fix a few things such as:
- Bodywork - has a few marks, not to mention the front bumper that poorly fits and isn't a colour match. That's a job for my Dad as he does car bodywork for a living, he used to run the body shop for the local BMW main dealer, so he knows his way around a Z4.
- Drivers side headlight doesn't level, probably the stepper motor, I need to take a look.
- Headlights need a good polish as the plastic has pitted and gone cloudy.
- CD changer doesn't work, no power to it & not recognised by the head unit, I've read it's a pita of a job to take out. So bar checking the connections (if possible) that will be staying as is.
- Broken third brake light, already fixed :D

Looking forward to cracking the DA out and getting a good shine on the paintwork.

Finally, just want so say this is a great forum, lots of friendly folk and some great information contained within.

Thanks for looking

Hi and welcome. I've got the same with my CD unit. Got power to it now but shows no magazine on head unit so if you find a fix let me know

Welcome to the forum, yet another 03 Z, glad you like it, they are addictive aren't they

So seeing as a few of us have come from MX5's, thought I would post mine up:

It's a 1992 impored 1.6 (so technically a Eunos Roadster). I've had it the last 2.5 years and done many upgrades such as:

MeisterR Fully adjustable and unrated suspension
Bigger OEM spec brake disks with performance pads
New engine management
Stainless catback exhaust
Alloy rad and silicone pipes
New mohair roof
Leather seats
Uprated clutch
Lightweight flywheel
LSD

Probably plenty more, and all of the above done with my own fair hands (bar the last three, too technical for me!).

Overall it's an awesome car, and I've learned such a lot by working on it. But unfortunately space is needed as there is a Zed shaped car in its place! Although I'd rather not part with it!

Maybe I'll just store it somewhere and turn it into a track only car :D

Welcome I have a 30l auto too love it keep spending money on her she's not a cheap date that's for sure I am having problems with my stereo to lights are on but nobody home (no sound ) let me know if you have a fix or hear of one while sorting yours :D

Welcome to the forum OP.

Your Z looks great, albeit not as focussed as your MX-5 (well not yet).

If you can keep both, using the Mazda as a track car sounds like fun!

Funnily enough I've had moments of silence from my stereo too. It seemed to correct itself when I cycled through the modes.. maybe that will be another job to add to the list. I'll let you know if I manage to fix it, but to be fair it's probably a gremlin due to age!

Welcome! :) Zed looks tidy, once you've whittled down that snag list it'll be as good as new! Bit different to the MX5! Enjoy! :driving:
