Hi Guys

Recently brought a E89 2.0 ( just been mapped and now drives as it should ) and cant help feeling it lacks a little in the stopping department.

Been following a few threads but cant quite put my finger on the best bang for buck upgrade ?

It's a weekend toy and i'm not going to be thrashing it everywhere so looking for a good upgrade to give me a little more confidence , be that new calipers and disks or just a new pad and disk combo.
The current disks are in good condition but somehow dont quite inspire confidence.

Anybody recomend a good cost effective setup.

Hello and welcome to the forum, sorry I can’t offer any suggestions for the brake upgrade but it would be nice to see a photo of your recent purchase

Hi

Thanks for that , ive followed this thread but think the 6 pots are a little more than i wanted , want somthing more stock looking.
The 4 pots from the F40 M135i look the part and circa £500 for front and rear but i want somthing bolt on without any machining or faf.
not sure the electronic handbrake is a swop ?

upgrade to the 2.8 is the obvious upgrade but doesnt sound worth it ?

More likely has anybody had any good results from a pad upgrade , or upgrade to 2.8 with better pads , just want more sharpness and bite

Hello and nice motor.
If you don't want to change callipers, TRW discs and pads are really good. I put these on mine (same as yours), with low dust pads. They took about 100 miles to bed in but are really effective. You can also get the discs with black painted hub extensions so they look good too with the 326 wheels.

These are the same company as Autodoc.com.

As Pondrew stated, various people have felt that they can improve on the stock discs n pads by various substitutions. Some people rate Ferodo their street / track pads.

In reallity for homologation purposes none of these OE compatable discs n pads are going to vary greatly as by certfication standards they have to be pretty close to the OE supplied set for safety purposes.

I ran / and in fact now re-run /28i 330mm discs on the front instead of 300mm..I'm not sure I can determine much difference TBH..

On the rears the only 'easy' swap is E89 35is rear caliper and discs. Everything else ( in the budget sphere is lots of machining)

With weight transfer since it seems that you are a 'hard'/'late' breaker weight transfer will limit what the rears can do..

They are effectively oversized in that context..

I presume it also a different caliper and not just a disk change
if so dont suppose you know the part numbers ,

Correct different calipers

If you go to realoem and put 28i E89 you will get the part numbers..

Realoem is your friend for understanding your E89..
