Hey All,

Bought an E85 3.0i as an weekend car.. turned out to be in worse condition than originally thought so has kind of turned into a mini restoration project

Spec: msport seats, dsp hifi, xenon lamps and memory electric seats.

Current plans: respray, exhaust, stubby aerial, seats re-trim, black kidney grilles & new plates

"This thread is worthless without pics" sooo :P

Welcome. A nice looking Zed there and a 3.0 is always a good thing. Sounds like your plans will have it back to its former glory very soon.

I look forward to seeing the progress.

Oh, it was all going so well until I read.. stumpy :P
welcome to the forum and your car is in the best colour
:worthless:
We want to see the inside too :poke: :P

Great colour!

I think we should open a book and take bets as to whether your cam cover gasket needs replacing.... they all do!

And ignore Fred; he's in a minority. Stubby's the way to go!

Gasket was delivered yesterday

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!

So it’s been while since I updated this with any project progress. Funds have been tight of late, along side Covid being a PITA

I have been hard at work this weekend fitting new pads and discs. I have fitted Mintex pads with Grooves discs from MTEC. Annoyingly while fitting these, I noticed the anti-roll bar bushes are practically shot so another thing to be done.

Thought while I had everything apart I’d give the calipers a lick of paint also.

MOT was due recently, passed with an advisory, rear brake lines corroding so they are on the todo list.

As we all know the standard Xenons are abit pants, so I have replaced the projectors and bulbs with Morimoto projectors and OSRAM bulbs. Wow what a difference!

VANOS seals and cam cover gasket have also been done.

When funds allow I will be looking at doing a suspension refresh. Looking at bilstein B4 / B6 dampers and possibly eibach springs. Was going to do poly bushes but these have already been done by the previous owner.

A belated welcome from NZ to a fellow Toledo Blue Z owner. Looks like you’ll have a very nice car when you have finished your work on it, already looks good.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

A shame your car needs a bit more work than you hoped, but at least you've found one with a good spec!

Good luck getting it how you want it.
