Newbie- dealer quotes!

Hello Chaps, my first post in this forum!

Only just got my Z4 and i Phoned up my local dealer (snows) yesterday to enquire about the price for a few bits as follows:

Cruise Control £411
Wind Deflector £490
Multi Cd Changer £811 (don't really need it but thought I'd ask!)

All Inc of vat and fitting. Don't think I'll bother! Bit of a shame cause I'd have liked the cruise control and wind deflector and I'm not the best at DIY!!

The wind deflector really isnt hard to fit - I bought all the parts for £240.

Its worth it if you are like me and have the roof down at every opportunity regardless of temperature!

Welcome to the forum and the alternative universe of the BMW stealership!

The wind deflector makes quite a difference so may be worth getting one as above or an aftermarket at a more sensible price.
If you search the forum you will see that the CD multi-changer is not always popular and can have problems, a lot of people are fitting mp3/ipod solutions. In the meantime I'm sure you will turn up the six-pot soundtrack and enjoy :driving:

Cruise control is a very simple DIY fit. Mine cost £61 all in as my car was pre-wired. Yours will need an additional cable (about a tenner?) but is still an easy job. Wish I could get the job for £411!

As above wind deflector easy to fit, was the first mod I did having the deflector thrown in with the car on the understanding I fitted it.

Cruise Control £80 and easy fit now a member on the board worked out how, the BMW instructions are crap to say the least and misleading.

CD Changer, get yourself an ipod and Intravee or dension, cheaper and easier to fit than the CD changer that requires half the interior to come out to fit, hence high fitting cost.

Cheers guys,

I'll definately have to find the wind deflector fitting instructions. I guess they'll be in the how to section? Took the top down in the sunshine and went for a good drive. Absolutely amazing afternoon, even if I had the seat heaters on!

Not sure about the cruise control, think I'll pass on that since wiring etc is a little beyond me and a bit daunting, especially when I forked out a whack for the car!

I should have said but I have the parrot kit fitted which is amazing so I'm in no real need for the multi cd, I was just surprised at the cost!

PM me your email address and I will email the fitting instructions to you

welcome to the forum, as has been said, those jobs are all pretty straightforward. I am a reluctant DIYer but found them easy to do. Nice colour combo you have there
