Hi all,

Just thought I'd pop a post up to say I'll be joining you all in the next few days with a Z4 3.0i in Sterling Grey.

I'm 23, from Northants and work for a telematics company, always been into cars and in my years I've been driving so far, I've owned (quite) a few. Examples, in order, below.

First car, 206 1.4 (then 1.6 when engine decided to die). These were my younger years and I was slightly naive

Best car so far - supercharged VX220 (a few friends and myself built this)

Owned a Cooper S running 270bhp for about 6 weeks, wasn't the car for me, felt a bit chavvy

1.8T TT

Then a 206 GTi bought as a super cheap runaroud - http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/zz188/Seb_Ferraro/Cars/206%20GTi/before2.jpg

Then I went through a few VX's/Elises as they were all slightly deteriorated and needed doing up a bit:

Then had a 2004 320d for working in (no pics)

I've got my own VX220 again (for keeping) which is a WIP

And now will be using this as a daily car

Picking it up tomorrow hopefully. Paid £6400 for it, '05 plate, Nav/Bluetooth, 74k miles, FSH, HPI clear, Parking Sensors, tyres all round are decent and so are wheels as well. Most important point for me was that it's taxed and MOT'd until next March some time.

I'm partial (when I have the time) to a bit of a meet up, so may end up coming along if I find some local ones when I've got time off.

See you around!

Seb

Hi Seb - welcome to the club. I have a 2.5 in the same colour and live in Harelstone Northants - where abouts are you in the country?

Phil

Thanks for the comments and welcomes guys. I am a fan of cloth tops, but I'm also partial to a bit of hardness as well ;)

Have both soft and hard tops for the VX.

Hi and welcome, tell us more about vx220's as you seem familiar with them.

I don't know what it is about them. Just such fantastic cars and can be had so cheap now! They really do provide such a raw experience and they are much nicer to drive than the Elise was, it felt bland in comparison. They're also ridiculously cheap to keep running, brakes & pads all round are about £250, tyres all round cost me £280 last time, spark plugs are £2 each, the list goes on!

There is also very little that goes wrong on the 2.2 N/A engines, the 2.0 Turbos have a few more issues and the debate among owners is similar to the hard top/soft top debate here.

The 2.2 is lighter and therefore obviously much more nimble (I would say that having owned 4 though!!)

Well.....is that scary or what! I think I have seen you around (or the car) - we will have to catch up for a beer. :)

I'm normally in a silver Golf Bluemotion Estate, live in Upper Harlestone and the usual route to work takes me along port road towards Duston!
