Newbie Buying Advice

Hi all,

Another 'What should I buy?' thread I'm afraid. I've read AlanJ's excellent check list and will have it in hand when I go to buy but first some advice. My budget is about £7000 and would like to know what are the models/engines to buy or avoid. I currently have an '04 330D auto but am looking for a charactor car to keep for a fair few years. In the past I've owned MX5s & MR2s Any other advice gratefully received

If you can stretch to it then go for the 3.0 engine with as many toys as you can find. The 2.0 and 2.5 are good cars but the amount more power you get with the 3.0 is significant vs any additional price. Pre-facelift cars are IMO better looking cars but you'd need to find one that has been cherished and with good service history (see Z4-Forum Sale section). Other than that its really a case of picking a colour and putting it out there!

Maybe put a WANTED post together with a list of what you'd like (mileage, spec, wheels, colour, SE or SI etc) and see what PM's you get?
