Recently picked up a 2004 2.5i manual and in between zooming around and getting acquainted with the sport button
I have been working through the forum sorting out a few issues. So far I've:
- Installed leather electric memory seats to replace the cloth ones that came with it (nearly lost an eye and a finger in the process :thumbsdown: - those springs in the manual seats are bloody powerful when there's no weight in the seat!!)
- Swapped the 16 inch wheels for some 18 inch ones off an E90 3 series convertible
- Cleaned the gunk out of the wiper motor to make the wipers rest in the right place
- Learned how to pop the bonnet with the "push down" method
The remaining issues:
- bonnet only opens with the push down. Pulling the lever doesn't move the main catch at all, though I can see a small part to the left of the catch moving very slightly. Can someone please point me towards how to fix this? Can I just tighten the cable somehow or do I need a new one fitted?
- passenger side door makes a really loud bang when its closed with normal force. There's also a rattle from near / in the same door. Perhaps something loose inside? Is this a common issue?
- handbrake is very loose - is this easy to tighten?

was the same on my 3 series. If you take the leather gaiter off, there should be two bolts to tighten underneath the handbraked.... (might be wrong as haven't tried on the zed yet!)
