Newbie 40i

Greetings.

I recently bought this piece of junk to replace my LCI M2 and instantly felt more 'at one' with it.

I never got on with the M2 - I always felt like I was sitting 'on' the car instead of in it.
Yes...the chassis was superb, the DCT fierce and fun when 'on it', but I found the N55 engine a let down.
The noise started to annoy me and the low down torque was less than I had expected.
The interior was also a bit low-rent. Maybe I'm just getting old...

The Z4 feels like a step up in all aspects. It may not have the peak power of the M2's N55 but the the B58 feels better in every other aspect.
The noise is beautiful - a hint of warble and a combined bass line gives way to a howl as the RPM climbs. Whoever designed the 'cast-in' exhaust manifold and the porting through the twin scroll turbo needs a medal because this thing doesn't feel or sound turbocharged at all.

I could go on about the seating position, the suspension, the tech (I have all but driving assistant), the colour, the interior, the looks, but I'll leave that for another time.

Anyway, hope I'm of some use to the forum and I look forward to some friendly banter.

Some pics of the piece of junk...

Nice piece of junk you've got there

But seriously that's one nice looking car in one of the best colours for it. Congratulations!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I may not be the biggest fan of the G29 styling but it sounds like it is a very competent car, and I love the look of those quilted seat-backs!

The interior is my favourite part of the G29 and yours looks stunning. I've sat in one a few times and I think it is a special place to be.

If it was up to me the next Zed would have the silloute of the E86, the rear of the E85, the front of the E89 and the interior of the G29. Pretty much the perfect Zed! 8)

 Welcome aboard.

I have a shed full of garden tools and push bikes. Happy to trade you.

Lovely Z4 btw. 8)

I made exactly the same move! Miss the M2 in some respects but the M40i ticks all the boxes and more. Enjoy. :)
