Hi everyone,

I'm very pleased to confirm that I have woken up and bought one of these awesome motors! :D I have owned the car since November and absolutely no regrets.

My car is pretty standard with only M-Sport 18" 5 spoke split rim alloys and M-Sport steering wheel. It has been exceptionally well looked after as far as I can tell.

I have already done a couple of things to the car. 1) Full refurb of alloys as they had penetrative rot. Full fill, seal and respray. New centre caps obviously. Proper OEM parts! I may be a sucker for punishment but I'm keeping the runflat tyres as they are quite new and I appreciate the "raw" go-kart feel! 2) Fitment of new aftermarket stereo to upgrade to DAB and Bluetooth. Head unit has multiple zone colour display so illumination is almost exactly the same as the existing red-orange and green-yellow dashboard lights! Doesn't look too out of place thankfully.

What other low-cost upgrades would you recommend to start with? I'm an open book and passionate about maximising the full potential of my new baby over time.

Thanks for reading! :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

A popular modification on Roadsters is to get the roof motor relocated to the boot - it tends to get very wet where BMW fitted it! There are a few people on here who can do it at a very reasonable cost - I believe BMW charge plenty for replacement motors.

Another popular mod is to get a ZHP gear-knob - it's a bit shorter than OEM and better weighted.

The only other one I can think of off-hand won't be happening as you are keeping the run-flats!

By the way it's a good idea to post a photo or 2 before the photo police arrive.

Aftermarket module like the RCH+ for the roof is always a nice little addition, means you can auto open / close on the key and you don’t need to hold the button down on the centre console.

Aesthetically, aero side skirts look great as does the aero or the M front bumper.

P I C T U R E S !!!!!!

Welcome along, as Mr tidy said zhp knob is a cheap little upgrade and makes a surprising amount of difference

Thanks for the speedy input people! I'm liking the sound of the ZHP gearknob. Will be looking into that straight away.
Sounds like a very good plan to get the roof motor relocated to boot. Seems fine currently as apparently rarely used by previous owner. I'll look at the other threads for info on this though as it'll get a lot more use from me!
Can anyone advise on ease of replacing whole aerial unit as base rubber is perished and a light grey colour? It's kind of redundant as I have DAB aerial on windscreen now so it's purely for cosmetic reasons...
