Hi all,

I've been all over this forum, and asking pesky questions and just discovered I should have started here, so am righting the wrong 😜😜

I owned a showroom modified Datsun 240z running 265 tyres back in the 90s. Loved that car with a passion. Recently satisfied my itch to own a hot hatch, Renault Megane RS 225 6sp manual yet kept thinking about that 240z.

So I looked around and was tempted by an E89 35i, but a dodgy salesman and rough car put me off, but it brought to my attention a Black Sapphire Metallic, Red Leather E86 Coupe. And strangely, having always lived manuals, I wanted an auto, and that was.

I totally love this car. Felts remarkably chunky/solid to drive, and bigger than it is. Fantastic handling, remarkable low down torque, and creature comforts that prove I would struggle now in an old car from the 70s lol.

If all the similarities to the 240, 2 seats, 2 doors, hatch, straight 6, it's the way some angles of the case are querky, and some are drop dead gorgeous. It has me constantly turning back and looking at the car, searching for that perfect picture.

Thanks heaps for letting me join lads, what a brilliant forum πŸ‘IMG_20210129_132932.jpg

Cheers BTZ, I picked mine up from a guy from Torbay, Auckland.... selling on behalf of his ex wife, advertised on by a friend of his on behalf lol.

Does it look similar to a Tauranga car?

Check your PM's. It was in Tauranga for some time and it was serviced there. Think the sellers wife drove it, then a change in occupation meant she could walk to work, and the car became a surplus item. The advertiser lived in Tga.

Welcome! Coupe looks good in the NZ light. More pics would be great when you get a chance - especially of that 240Z.

Ah, good to know! What a small world. I understand prior to the previous owner, it was owned by the guy that did the servicing on the car for them, and this was the guy that originally imported the car from Japan.

Its done 200ks now, and the way it looks, drives, it feels like its done just a third of those k's. I'm keen to know more about the car if you know πŸ‘

I'm definitely loving it too much.

A few more. Need to get busy with the camera

Tidy little lip spoiler on the hatch did you fit that?
Rainy day by the looks too. How un-NZ

BTZ, yes fitted the boot spoiler and added the Ray's Homura 2x7's wheels.

Interior in great condition. Am perplexed with the small minidisc player (?) mounted just above the ashtray, and the power and Aux cable coming out of the dash..... Aux cable doesn't seem to work :(

Pics of the new cars inspiration...

240Z still looks great today. Hopefully Z4C will look as good in 10/20/30 years. Welcome to the forum.

Wonderful images. Do like a 240Z.
And you have a minidisc player above the ashtray in the coupe?!

Welcome to E86 ownership - yours is looking good.

I hope you enjoy it as much as you enjoyed your 240Z. :driving:

Welcome from another Z owner in NZ (Wellington). Saw your car advertised, looks like you have tidied it up quite a bit, well done on the purchase. Have driven a few Z4 auto’s and they drive really well. Great forum here, have fun.
