Newb Comparitive Exhaust Question

Can anyone tell me if or why an exhaust manifold with cats for a BMW 320 with an N46B20 B Engine will or wont fit on a 2008 BMW 2.0 Z4 with an N46B20 engine?

They look identical, the engine block is the same and the sensor points appear to be in exactly the same places.

As the Z4 exhaust manifold looks rarer than hens teeth to obtain yet has a common design flaw that cracks and no doubt will have to find a replacement at some point in the future, was just wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on why this would or would not be an iption?

Can't say for certain, but it's likely the flange to connect to the rest of the system is in a slightly different place.

Thanks for your reply, that would make sense, as everything else looks identical, It was just after reading a thread of someone having to wait 4 months for BMW to find one and then charged them over £1,000, I though hmm, surely being the same engine the business end must be the same, so now it would just be mdifying the fit at the outlet end, saving this guy over £800.00.

Fortunately not an issue on mine yet, but it appears, it could be just a matter of time and cant find a 4 port manifold online for love nor money.
