Great to have something special to look forward to. There is nothing like the smel of a brand new car.
There is, the smell of leather polish on a demonstrator knowing that someone else has taken the 20% hit with VAT 8)

The price reduction is a great incentive but knowing it hasn’t been bounced up a kerb every day nor booted from cold is also an attraction!

That is true, but if you can find one with only a couple of hundred miles on the clock, its a low risk for several thousands in saving.

There are some out there where they are just pre registered by the dealer so they can sell them as a demo but have never been actually used as such. My fist demo had 8 miles on the clock

So long as the demo hasn’t been used by a staff member as their daily. Saying that, it shouldn’t really matter.

My car will be 3 years old next year so maybe depending on changeover cost I may go for a new one. Or I may keep my one! ;)

I got a good price for my current G29, equating to a £12k depreciation over 4 years.
In the current climate of used car prices, that is not brilliant IMO.
I just bought a 4 year old car that cost £34k RRP new in 2019. I paid £29,900 for it. And it was £2k cheaper than a dealer would sell it for. Now that is low depreciation. :o

Anyway, good news on your new arrival Dr J.

I saw a nice new M40i last Oct 22 - the dealership offered me peanuts for my 35is - it was -WBAC price

I could see their advertisement for my car when they were to sell it!

One elderly Gent owner, serviced by us and regardless of cost, extremely low miles, extremely high price we ask!

They did offer a 2% discount on the new one they had in stock.

Yes, I guess I was comparing it to previous Z4 deals that I have done over the years where the depreciation always seemed to work out at about £6k per year. Funny old times we are going through these days :D

Not sure what will happen to prices of any petrol car the closer we get to 2030. I for one will be looking to bUy the best and the one with the biggest engine I can afford and just running it till it goes or I do.

Suspect the 2030 limit will change to 2035 just like the EU.

Update - the dealer told me last Monday (17th) that it was at a UK port awaiting road transport to them. Great, I thought, here in a couple of days.

He phoned me just now, according to the ‘system’ it’s still at the port 10 days later. They are trying to find out where exactly it is!

I’m pretty well laid back, it will turn up sometime soon :)

I ordered my new Z4 first week of April and received it second week of July. Don't ask the dealer! Get an order number and chat with the BMW Genius on the BMW web site. I did and told the dealer that they had the car..........

I'm getting seriously pissed off now. Dealer just called, he admits that they have no idea where my new car is despite promises all along that I would have the car by mid July.

I can put up with late delivery for all sorts of reasons, but to openly admit that they don't know where it is smacks of incompetence and poor production tracking systems. I expected better of BMW  :headbang:

Don't bother with the dealer. Go straight to the BMW Genius..........

Having obtained my order number I just tried the BMW Genius, it doesn't seem to want to divulge any useful information regarding delivery status :x How did you coax it into being helpful..............??????????

Just noticed the 'chat' button, I'll try that!

OK that worked, the car is 'at sea' en route for Immingham. Some sort of progress but not exactly at a UK port on 17 July as the dealer told me.
