If its a decent third party warranty in terms of exactly what it covers and the max size of claim the bit their hand off . But first check on line to see what others think of the warranty .Again there are many threads on warrantys so do your home work and read up on that as well before you sign up .
Re the investment I see where you're coming from ,I mean you could buy a two year old fully loaded Mx5 sport tech for the same money and two years later it will be worth a lot less than the M and will much less fun to own and drive .As it happens I'm a big Mx5 fan but I prefer the mk1
And 60k miles on an M isn't a big deal if it's been properly maintained .Re the mileage being verified just check the mileage on the serial MOTs on line at DVLA ,it's all there and should tally up with the service history .Its the dealers responsibility to make sure that's all in order .And look at this way ,if you bought this in say May it would be a grand dearer so you have in hand to play with .

I'll definitely check the small print on the warranty, I do know that the warranty covers costs up to the sale price of the vehicle, so ~11.5k, honestly I've no idea if that is reasonable or not as I've always previously owned cars from new which had standard manufacturer warranties so I'm new to third party deals. The sales rep was adamant that it covers literally everything except wear and tear items with no exceptions. I have 30 days to check the details and sign up to that after purchase though.

True that. I specifically said would things like shock absorbers, springs etc be covered and they said yes. But they can say whatever the like, that won't mean anything when it comes to making a claim 10 months later. I've asked for a copy of the document detailing the policy, it has a whiff of the too good to be true. And Googling Evans Halshaw Warranty brings back some awful reading. But then who writes up the good stuff.

Well if the warranty was sold to you by the dealer then if anything goes wring just sling the car back at them and it's their responsibility to sort it out -ie since they sold you and hence by definition endorsed the warranty -if the claim is up the cost of the vehicle then that sounds like a solid warranty -most 3rd party warranties have a cap up 2-3k per claim .

I think this is an overall cost cap, so per claim isn't capped, but over 2 years you can't claim more than the cost of the vehicle. That's how I understood this one.

You may have to have the car serviced at EH to keep the warranty. I know this is the case at Benfield. Not a problem if you don't mind the stamps in the book. They may also ask for you to pay for the repair and make a claim to refund the money, this was the case for me. I now have an Indy stamp in my service book and have no idea where I would stand on a future claim?

A spring may snap,and i think you would have a good shout with that..

A shocker leaking,no chance........ That would be wear and tear..

I have dealt with warranty companies for 20 years and rarely do they pay up without wiggling or refusing...


Im thinking of saving your money...

Yea I guess, I'll put that to bed for now. One could argue if you're entering into a relationship with a ///M then you should be prepared for and know the associated costs and risks that come with it. But trying telling that to someone who's gearbox has just exploded haha :fuelfire:
I still might yet interrogate the EH guys and ask for concrete guidelines on what is and isn't covered, I'm sure an extended warranty has helped many people. You just tend not to hear them shout and rant about that side of the story on the internet.

And i dont disagree with warranties per se,but when the "wear and tear" clause comes into play then you know you are in for a bending over..
