New Z4C owner

Hi all,

Been lurking on here for about a month whilst searching for a Z4 coupe. Finally found the one for me at a Ridgeway VW dealer (of all places and coincidentally where my last car, a Bora TDi came from) in Reading. Here's a quick pic I took today, Im driving to cornwall this weekend so might see if I can do some better photos there:

I now need to search and read all the car cleaning threads, I've literally kept my previous cars like ashtrays with the odd eastern european valet every now and again but this deserves some attention I think!

I have a stubby already courtesy of a mate and have a few ideas for additions. I didnt get Sat Nav (this one has pretty much everything else apart from that and hifi) and so thought I'd do that myself. Im looking at Kenwood/Alpine/Pioneer sat nav head units at the moment. Any recommendations? Good deals?

Looking forward to chatting with you all!
Gwa

PS) My face hurts from grinning, driving this car is about the next best thing to having a real transformer in my book.

hello and welcome

nice car but if your previous cars where like ashtrays then i'm afraid its in your blood, you have to just admit your a scruffy git

Welcome! Lovely motor. I do wish sometimes I'd have gone for a black one

Also as a new coupe owner I'm pleased to report it still puts a smile on my face 3 weeks later :D

I was originally after grey, hehe :)

One thing I've found to be very true from reading here is the tramlining, doesnt really bother me too much though. I was looking at some Falkens on bmautosport but notice they don't come with the rim protector? Any alternatives with rim protectors? I have to street park a bit at the moment and love the wheels so much...

One thing I am finding funny is getting used to the bonnet length and judging where the end is! I wonder if the parking sensors on the front would be more handy!

I had that problem as well, managed to ding a wall already but no damage as was very slow, still stupid thing to do though!

Well been driving my new Z4 for a month now and done just over 2 thousand miles :) happy to report no problems but just thought I'd share what i've been up to with it. I've done a few mods courtesy of the guidance of this forum: bought a M-tech gear knob, similar to the ZHP I think; I've added the customary stubbie and also changed the badges over to carbon fibre - I was quite reluctant at first but am pleased with the effect, think it gives the car a real classic but cool look keeping any colour off; also removed the 3.0si badges as i'm a big fan of less=more; and I have changed the kidney grills to black ones, one of the cheapest, easiest and biggest impacting mods in my opinion!

I took a few pictures at a lay-by in portsmouth overlooking the harbour. I've cropped them to try and give the illusion i know even the basics of photography :P

My mates 330d who I was out driving with. That's a seriously quick car...

Next steps for me are an audio upgrade. I've read lots of good stuff on here but still not quite decided yet. I definitely will be keeping the original headunit so it's just a case of amps/subs and speakers. I'm also considering M6 wheels but do like my MV2's quite alot. Just see them on so many BMW's =/ I'm not a fan of 108's and I see alot of CSL's so want to go for something different but not too non-OEM. Any suggestions welcome!

Finally, does anyone have any thoughts or pictures of an M bonnet on a non M car? I love the lines in the coupe roof and think the bonnet on the M would make the si look more aggressive...

Thanks for posting all the good advice and guides, has steered we well through my purchase and early ownership days.

Looks great - is it lowered as well or are you just carrying a boot-load?

I popped some M6 style alloys on a black coupe for another forum member in photoshop - might give you an idea of how they'd look (it's a little small):

Hi and welcome.. very nice indeed.

In terms of tyres with rim protection... i didnt get Falkens for the exact same reason... opted for some Vred's... however other alternatives within a similar performance/ price range are Eagle F1's. However on 19's they dont offer much protection... even parking within a hairs length of the curb and i have managed to graze them (which a silver touch up pen comes in handy if they are not cut)

As as an alternative to CSL's i got VMR 710... which look similar; but with one less spoke.. but imo nothing beats csl's on a coupe!

Great photos - that lay by up on the hill by the QA has fantastic views - better than being up the Spinnaker Tower in fact! And its free!

I've been looking for that pic, was unable to find the thread where I first saw it :) That confirms it for me, I'll get another pic up as soon as I've mustered the cash and got them on :)

I havnt lowered it so unless it's pre-lowered I guess it's a trick of the light or to do with the surface I'm stopped on?

Hmm, just checked some 710's out - they look good. I might have to come to next meet to get some first hand impresisons I think...

Oh yeah, as you can see (@Taz), one month in and I've kept it clean - reformed man!

Gwa - car looks stunning. Thanks for putting the pics up. Could you put a close-up of the CF bonnet and boot badges pls? I’ve got a black coupe and thinking of making the same change. Thanks!
