New Z4 Tyre Help Please

Purchased the Z4 a week ago from BMW and very happy with it apart from the awful run-flat tyres. The ride is rather harsh and find that the car tramlines on occasion.

I would like to change all 4 tyres to non-runflats but I am struggling to find a suitable set at the standard size as follows:

225 35 19
255 30 19

Therefore does anyone have any suggestions on other sizes that would be ok to use? Could I leave the fronts as 225 35 19 and up the rears to 265 30 19 or would both the widths need to be increased.

Any help appreciated as I have tried searching and struggling to understand.

Hi Chris, did you get a warranty with the car if it's not new? Either way then I 'think' you're stuck with the runflats as any warranty claims will be refused, but someone will be along to confirm/deny this. If no replies give Angie a shout, she'll know for definite.
 
Re warranty claims, as you've purchased a used BMW with an Approved Used Warranty wheels are not covered but you may find that in the event you wanted to try and claim for a cracked wheel then a decent dealership still may try and fight this for you, with or without RFTs fitted. You've actully more chance of cracks if you keep the run flats on. I don't find them too bad but I will be changing them when they are worn for non RTFs

Remember you'll also need some kind of sealant and compressor, just incase you do get a puncture as even roadside assistance will be useless for a puncture on a wheel of that size as it can't be replaced at the side of the road as the mobile tyre equipment can't really deal with them.

Jimbos tyre size would be ideal and ideally I'd go for Michelin or Eagle F1s both super tyres with really great wet grip too
 
I quite like 245/30R19 & 265/30R19 but it's apparently it takes some serous voodoo magic to get the front tyres under the arches properly :cry:
 
Yes the car is approved used (less than 3 years old but warranty topped up to a year) but I think its worth the risk on claims because its not the best ride in the world with runflats.

Only had the car a few days before changing but noticed a big improvement in comfort. Never experienced bad tramlining like I had on my E85 before ditching the runflats.
Reason for changing from runflats on the E89 were twofold. Comfort and to reduce the risk of cracking the 326 alloys which are renowned for cracking. Previous owner had several replaced under warranty.
6 months in and alloys still good. my-fingers-are-crossed-smiley-emoticon.gif
