Yes I thought it had some of the MX-5 and 124 about it too...

Pointy edged kidney grilles  - that's messing with the signature mark of BMW, kidneys should be curved, sacrilege :D

Not doing a lot for me. It's so dissapointing that all the German brands have created this brand style that dilutes any difference aross their range. Almost every car looks identical from the front, it's really boring and shows a lack of flair.

Back looks good. They can keep the rest. Doesn’t look like I’ll be upgrading if that’s a true likeness.

I’ll reserve judgment until it’s unveiled.

F Type does absolutely nothing for me.

Would prefer a German car rather than an Indian one anyway!

Some one has wasted a good 2minutes putting that rendition together. Best wait and see what it actually looks like. Please not that bland.

Dear Mr Kruger,

Scrap the boring ugly f**ker.

Kind regards,

The Z4 forum.

Interesting that the concept got very good comments on here from pebble beach, which was 80% of the finished car according to BMW, but seems virtually no one likes it now.... :scratchhead:

The reality from the concept seems to be just less crazy front air scoops and the obvious removal of the rear buttresses which could never have stayed.

That's the trouble with concepts they always leave us with unrealistic expectations of the car and reality is a let down, perhaps BMW and other car makers should just release sneek pics of the actual road car :?

I take your point Metal but looking at the two cars, if the non concept is indeed the final car, and looking at other new BM’s like the 8 series I reckon it is as it very closely follows the new designs, then they are very closely matched. As I said the buttresses couldn’t stay and the front is toned down but the rest? Well looks pretty identical to me, certainly not different enough to get the negative reactions. Just my opinion obviously.

The side of the car looks pretty much the same as the concept, shame BMW cant come up with a different design of door handle like the flush fit ones like what on the F type.
The grills on the concept and the nose dropping a little look better to me, if they could have got somewhere in the middle it might have been better.
I wonder how different the back end will be as I liked the rear of the concept.

Thanks for putting both photos next to each other John.

You see the swoopy errr... "things" behind the roll hoops on the concept? THAT would've sold the car to me. It's the little things...

Why couldn't they have the same front bumper, and the more aggressive scoops in the sides and the bonnet? I'm not going to demand the same wing mirrors which are strictly concept only but they toned it down too much... If that stuff is planned for an ///M then they should release that from the get go.

Edit: also the more aggressive grills with a slight slant forwards akin to the 80s line up makes a big difference in my humble opinion.

Yes, the grilles on the concept look so much better.

Unless it’s something stunning I think I’ll be hanging onto my old jallopy. The way things are looking I won’t have to be spending any dosh!
