New Z4 - Seal and Protect

BMW in the UK offer a Seal and Protect product on new Z4s. Does it do anything that regular waxing will not do?

Seal and protect is not worth the money IMHO. You can get the kits on Ebay for £5. All you are really getting the the guarentee against defects from BMW.

A good washing ( 2 buckets ) method and a quality wax will keep your car in tip top condition, and you can get a lot for the £400 they charge

Having said that I did Scotch guard the carpets :o

I beg to disagree a bit on this. Whilst I got S&P thrown in to my deal and would never pay £400 for it, it is useful to have if you can get a good deal or buy the kit and DIY. Having read that BMW blacks were very "soft", I was paranoid about swirls (particularly as I have the ruby variant). 9 months and many washes later, there is no visible sign of swirls. I am very much at the lazy end of detailing but I just don't have weekend time now to the the job "by the book." To me this was a good compromise that keeps the paintwork very glossy without too much hassle. Just make sure you use a water filter on rinsing, and a very good chamois.

If you want long lasting protection (like 9 months for a garage queen, or a good 6 months, otherwise), I'd strongly recommend the use of Zaino products. It is a process that will prepare your paint and then seal in the shining glow. The process is not as much a big deal as one might think, and the reuslts are stunning and amazingly durable. Do yourselves a favor and visit http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc. I've been using their stuff for 6 years now and have never looked back. However, I will say that waxes do do a fine job as far as shine/glow go, but offer just about zero protection and quickly loose their "shine" as they rapidly evaporate.

I very much doubt that after 9 months there would be anything left of the product on the car. I would say the lack of swirls is because of your wash method. :thumbsup:
 
I waxed and gave our Z4 a good going over at the weekend, the minor webbing or swirls are now gone after one light treatment or dare i say turtle wax colour magic lol.

Ive got all the pro stuff which is good but for regular polishes just to keep it looking nice i cant find anything better.

Can someone suggest a rock hard wax for the soft as butter Jet Black paint?

Im supper careful or try to be when cleaning but you just cant help little marks.
