new z4 remote locking problem and missing module?

hi everyone, I'm new to the this world and would greatly appreciate some help from all of you.

I just bought a 2004 2.5i model, trouble is all 3 keys do not remotely unlock the car, seller claims the keys need a simple battery.

I have also noticed in the front about half way up the window there looks like a plug point ( like a phone charger end) , is something missing? A module of some sort? Please help,thanks again.
