New Z4 project

Sold a rear wing for an E86 only this morning. When it comes to looks, it's all Marmite :D

I like the wheels and the adjustable suspension. The CF front spoiler looks great, but I'd worry about damaging it. The wings (fenders?) are not me, but I can see how they would work for some people. The boot lid? Vomiting Marmite on toast on the stock boot lid would look better. :D

Debbie says the boot lid looks like a horse with it's ears back.

Glad I'm not alone with the bootlid, but to be fair, it is a personal choice.

You say the car is for sale....I thought it was gonna be a demo car for your company?

They can't stand the sight of it either

I'm just not sure, I really like the side vents, but they are very Mercedes, the front lip I think would be better body colour matched, it wouldn't look like the add on that it is and the other wheels would probably add more contrast.

As for the rear spoiler, I am of the persuasion that spoilers belong on race cars not road cars and probably explains my feeling about the front too.

and finally my big problem is that it's white...... Sorry

I like the whole look. Do I detect some negative camber at the rear, or are my eyes deceiving me?

No more than standard, although it might appear more due to the wider tyres and lowering, and maybe the design of the wheels makes it show up more?

Our Z4 (28i) has been back to Germany for engine tuning - this is the result. Red lines are standard power output, blue lines are AC Schnitzer. Standard power at the rear wheels was 235PS and is now 284! The higher lines show power calculated at the flywheel, which is the normal "claimed" figure - nearly 300PS in this case! We've been saying this is a great little motor and now it really is!

This upgrade uses AC Schnitzer's new system for petrol turbos. Basically we will be receiving a supply of "blank" power modules and be able to install maps to the module direct from AC Schnitzer in Germany. Seems to work very well. We are looking at the potential of the 20i at the moment, however we know that the 20i has different gear ratios so it's unlikely that this will be tuned to the same output as the 28i.

It's worth noting that the 28i is a whopping 100kgs lighter than the 35i, and with the power output getting close, better weight distribution and lower fuel consumption we rate it very highly indeed.

Of course. We wouldn't have sold it otherwise :D

We were hoping the new owner was going to bring the car to Silverstone last Friday (BMWCC track day) but he got diverted to a meeting at the last minute. He's delighted with it, and we liked the (tuned) engine so much that our next demonstrator car will be another 28i, although probably a 3 series to appease the masses...
