New z4 owner

Hello.

I've been looking around the forum for a couple of months now, before biting the bullet on a 2006 3.0 si roadster (thanks for the buyers advice).

Very pleased with the z4, which is great fun on the Yorkshire lanes and have a couple of plans, I'll be looking for advice on completing in the not too distant future (I'll get a picture up when I work out how). BUT I seem to have a problem...

When accelerating through the 1,500 rpm range in a higher gear, the engine has a small stutter. I'm hoping it's nothing major, but any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Forgot to add, the cars done 105k.

Thanks,
Martin

Nice one Martin , i love to see folks getting into high mile Bmw's , if maintained well at 105k there's a lifetime of pleasure left in it
You can also get into the "us & our Zs" post with that mate

Hi & welcome
re stutter my son had a similar issue on a Pug 206 (I know a million miles away :D )
However we tried new plugs and a coil pack - no change
We plugged code reader on it and cleared them (nothing specific came up if I remember correctly) - hey presto, stutter gone never to return
A long shot I know but maybe worth a try

Hi and welcome.

Proof yet again that black roadster newbies always post pics withtheir first post. Nice car!

Enjoy :driving:

Thanks, the picture was the only one I had.. not intentional. Although high mileage it's been well looked after with a full BMWSH, the last owner only had it 18 months but covered 40k (mainly motorway) in it!

I'll take it to get plugged into a diagnostic when I get chance and see what gets thrown up, its only a very minor stutter when pulling away at low revs in a high gear, but don't want it getting worse if its a failing part. Having a google there's a few causes I've read about including carbon build up or faulty injector. I'll try running it on super unleaded too see if that helps too.

I had an mx5 a few years back I did a couple of track days in each year (pic below). I wouldn't mind using the Z4 a couple of times a year on the track too, does much need changing other than the usual gearbox oil, diff oil, brake fluid and pads? Any recommendations for pads?

Sorry to disappoint, its Monaco blue... just a poorly lit photo :)

Typical of non-black roadster owners not to say what colour their car is and then to post pics which look black! :poke:

Looks nice anyway, but now you have to post better pics! :D
