New Z4 Owner!

Good morning!

New to the forum and new to BMW.

Picked up my new Z4 3.0si yesterday. Handed over a great WV GTi fot it but so far I'm in love!

My first BMW and rear wheel drive car. Had a great evening driving and looking forward to having some sun so I can drop the top.

Few questions which you guys may be able to help. Will it be difficult to clear the drain lines for the roof and how often should I be clearing them? Any other things I should keep on top of?

Will upload some better photos when I get the chance to take some.

Thank you.

Owen

Lovely colour and great CSL wheels!!!! More pics please...

Drain holes no idea but I'd say never too often but wait til someone who had one comes on with better advice

Nice lookin Z4
Found this link regarding drain holes on another thread:

The video is very thorough but a lot of faffing about, I would probably only go to that length as an annual major check. My routine is every quarter, when I get the rear of the vehicle as high as possible on jack stands, reversing onto ramps would be even quicker but they may get in the way of gaining access to the bungs. I get both sides up level as I feel that lifting each side separately could cause any trapped water to run to the other side which would not not get drained, and vice versa. Raising the car allows me to get my head under the sill to see where to bend my hand in and feel the rubber bung, which can be pulled out (many owners never bother putting these back in as they act as a trap)) It is then possible to feed a length of flexible net curtain wire(plastic covered) up through the hole into the hood/hood motor storage area to make sure there is no blockage. Job done.

There are many how to's on this topic on the forum and from other sources on the net.

Welcome from someone else from Shropshire, the place you got it from wouldn't happen to be in Shawbury would it? I drive past the gaarge every day. I remember seeing that Audi with the decals for a while. Always seems to have some Z4s on the forecourt.

The drains holes is pretty easy to do, and probably best to make sure they are clean as you can't be sure they have been done in the past.

Cheers for the info guys! That youtube video is pretty good and its looks simple enough!

Minefields - Yes it was Shawbury! Yeah they had another 2.0 silver Z there.

Absolutely loving the car and sounds amazing at higher revs. So far so good!

Goodness me that's a bit tasty!

The best colour and looks good with the wheels. 3.0si is good choice too!

Well done sir! Look forward to more pics!!

Welcome to the forum, nice looking Zed you've got there.

Take the foam out of the sound generator pipe and you'll like the sound even more.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow 3.0SI owner (although mine has a roof).
But I can open the windows when I find a tunnel or railway bridge - they sound lovely as you get nearer the red line  !

Cheers for the welcome guys. Already taken some of the advise on.

Thursday bought a Pug stub aerial on Ebay for £5 and arrived the next morning. Very easy and cheap and I much prefer the stub aerial look.

Also had a play with the sound generator piping this morning. Really simple 2 min job. Took out both sponge plugs and took her for a spin but it was just a bit too much for my liking. Sounded more like a blowing exhaust at higher revs. Going to pop the bulk head side plug back in and see what thats like.

Keep the suggestions coming please guys :)

Cheers

Owen
